It’s the classic Worms mayhem, where two teams of worms – packing a formidable arsenal of bazookas, miniguns, cluster bombs, and more – fight it out to be the last one standing.
\nPlayable as either local multiplayer, or remote multiplayer for up to 2 players at once.
\nWith an (admittedly) very loose connection to the theme, “Worms 13k (and the Unholy Black Cat)” brings the familiar turn-based, terrain destruction gameplay, with the addition of two new cat-based weapons: The Nyan Cats and the Unholy Black Cat.
\nUse them at your leisure, but beware, friendships might not survive!
\nI had a blast playing this! And the SVG masking for terrain destruction is very cool!

\nTwo things that I noticed that at least for me hold the game back a little bit. The first is moving the camera around. If I move right or down, I end up over the scrollbars and the camera stops moving, if I move up its the taskbar, left its my app nav bar. Granted up and left can be fixed by going fullscreen, down and right are always a problem. You could get rid of the scrollbars, and/or capture the users mouse. You already show your own mouse cursor, just capture their mouse and show yours? Something like that should work and make that much more user friendly.
\nSecond is the wind is so varied and random, and has a huge influence. I don’t remember it being like that in the worms games, although it’s been a long time. I’d like the ability to turn it off, or at least way down.
\nI only call these things about because the rest of the game is such an amazing accomplishment and I want to keep playing it! If you put out a directors cut that tweaks these things, I’ll definitely keep coming back and playing with friends, just like the old days in Worms :)

\nMy only gripe is that moving the camera was a little touchy and slow. Sometimes I ran out of time in my turn, because I couldn’t find my enemy fast enough.
\nBut yeah, really fun! Amazing job

\nOk, the theme “Black cat” is obviously…. erm… lets name it “scratched” :-D
\nHowever: Really great Job done!

Otherwise, the game looks cool, congratulations!

\nThis is an impressive feat but I do have to say the theming is a bit of a stretch and the game doesnt run great on my computer and the controls can be a bit wonky.
\nBut a fun game is a fun game and I cant be too upset because this is very impressive!

The flow is fun and it gets pretty wild in a good way. I was kinda hoping to hear an iconic “Worms alleluia” but with cats doing a meow-chorus instead 😄 - still, it hits most of what makes Worms great.

There’s a bug in the air strike where you can spam click to absolutely destroy the landscape. I haven’t tried it in online mode yet :^)
\nThe scrolling doesn’t work very well, even in full screen, as the mouse has to be in a precise location, but not on the edge. I also wish we could zoom out.
\nOverall, very impressive game. Movement is a bit janky, and the worms get stuck often. There’s no double backflip so sometimes it’s impossible to continue moving. But just the fact that you implemented random terrain that can be destroyed in 13kb is already really amazing. The diversity of weapons is impressive, as is the wind effect and the precision of the shots. The addition of the two cat bombs is also welcome.

It also feels like the online integration is a natural fit here and works nice as well - I had a blast, ugh, blasting my partner to bits. Bugged air strike or not ;)
\nTechnically, doing this all within an SVG was surprising to many of us here and I felt it was worth shouting out (personally I’d love to read some post-mortem that explains the “why” behind this decision). It worked just fine on my beefy desktop, but was unplayably sluggish on my low-end laptop from a few years back. Generally it’s expected in 3d games etc., but in this case I felt that for what I get to see on screen, that hardware should’ve been more than sufficient. I suspect the entire SVG gets rasterized each frame and not culled, and that’s the culprit.
