\nVery pretty and polished, with the full set of RTS features! The controls and interactions all feel “right”, and the audio is great. I love the little “uh“s and “oh“s of the workers and fighters! Really great submission.

The graphics and animations were great. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this, and would play more if the game was expanded. The ramp-up of difficulty for the 13th wave was an unpleasant shock, but I guess that fits with the theme. Only criticisms: I couldn’t build walls for some reason, and the right-click movement was awkward.

Controlling the workers is okay, but when battles become intense it always gets very chaotic to me. I think it is because of the current control scheme - there is drag selection of multiple units but only if there aren’t already selected units at that moment, so the behavior change of left-click is not very intuitive. Deselecting all units by clicking one of them so I can select something else just don’t work. Right-click is used to deselect but it also moves the map which is confusing. The drag selection not working if you start from an occupied tile (trees, houses, etc.) adds to the confusion even more.\nNevertheless, I’m hooked! I will try again when you patch the walls.

It took a few playthroughs before I found the the right balance and rhythm. Bosses 1-3 were mostly a matter of having the engine up and running. Bosses 4+ were all about trying to make the engine bigger. Other players’ comments about the 13th boss left me somewhat intimidated, so I converted all of my workers to warriors for the last boss, and thankfully it all worked out. The one thing I was not able to figure out is the Temple / worship / mana system. I tried having units pray to the alter, but I couldn’t find the god power menu. Despite that, this is still an insane amount of content for a js13k entry! I have seen several attempts at RTS games in js13k over the years, and I feel like this is the first one that really pulled it off and sucked me in. Excellent graphics and sound effect choices. Very impressive, well done!

The first level, and the last level was a lot more difficult than the other levels. After knowing how to pray, it become easier. Great music and sound effects, especially the voices of the farmers. Reminded me about Command & Conquer.
\nI understand the game has support for mobile controls, which makes it slightly different from regular RTS games, but I think it worked ok.\nA lot of content in 13kB.

I loved the pixel graphics and just the whole simple RTS game working very well and give the resource-management experience.
\nThe right mouse button should perform actions and left mouse to select StarCraft, WarCraft-style would have been better because I found myself selecting another unit accidentally or moving somewhere near the unit I was trying to select. It got a bit frustrating.
\nOtherwise, overall an amazing game and experience to be had in this competition.

First of all the music is so good, my favorite so far this year. The pixel art graphics look amazing with a ton of detail and charm. Sound effects are great too and the speech works really well for the grunts. The gameplay is really solid RTS and with great game feel. It was easy for me to figure out what to do from playing and felt fun all around. This is the best RTS I ever remember seeing in JS13K.
\nSo after a few games, I still want to come try playing again but here’s a few suggestions for improvements…. There are some issues with the way controls work for example you have combined unit select with command, and scroll map with deselect. The good news, is you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, just copy the way the buttons work straight out of warcraft. Another problem is the right click drag select doesn’t work if you already have a unit selected, things like that are modal can make controls confusing. Right click could be more like a click and drag the screen around, I can help you hook it up. Also, it is easy to loose track of your own units in the trees, not sure what to do but it happened to me.
\nOverall amazing game, I am beyond impressed! This is one of the first entries that I will be coming back to after voting to give it another go.

The game is based on “The 13th Warrior”, aka “Eaters of the Dead”. I guess its kind of obscure now. The difficulty builds with each warrior (each of which is from the book) and the 13th is super difficult and the king, Beowulf. Thats how it ties to the theme :-)
