It was fun trying to fit a game in such a small size; by fun, I mean scraching my brain and trying to figure out how to make it 13 KB, but at last I did it, not perfectly, but I still did. And if you find a safe job do let me in your secert organization

I expected there to be numbers on the squares that are next to bombs to represent how many bombs the square touches. No numbers were shown on squares so the game mostly played as a hope my random click didn’t reveal a bomb, but no way to know ahead of time. It made it so the flags didn’t really do anything either as I had no way to know if a square would be a bomb or not. Tried in Firefox and Chrome on a mac.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the logic. I’ll definitely work on improving that part of the game so it’s more intuitive and fun.

However, unlike minesweeper, there doesn’t seem to be a skill involved, as all the tiles appear to be random. As far as I could tell, there’s no way to predict where the bombs would be, so I don’t know how to avoid them and use the flags. It’s pure chance.

Or maybe am I missing something!\nAdding a few sounds could have been nice when triggering a bomb or losing a life.
\nGG for the work you I have put into the game!

\nI like that you’ve got a 13 mine target and a concept of lives so that the game doesn’t end immediately when you uncover a mine.
\nIn traditional minesweeper clicking a blank square would reveal all neighbouring blank squares giving some hope of flagging possible mines and avoiding them.
\nSo in this game I didn’t see the point in marking something with a flag that you had no idea what was contained underneath as there were no cues.
\nPerhaps having right click to toggle flags would be better than having a button you need to keep going back to for toggling.

\nTo me, this is nothing more than clicking at random on the grid, trying to reveal yellow squares before red ones. Or did I misunderstand something ?

\nI increased my lives to 100 by always clicking on the same treasure bag, and finishing the game became super easy.
\nThere is some work to be done.

Thanks for your submission to js13k!\nI’m sure you’ve worked hard on your game, but I’m not aware of how much time you spent on it, so excuse me if things I mention were in your mind, but got left out in the rush of the month :)
\nGreat work on having a complete working game for js13k! Even more in your case with 3kb :)
\nI noticed that you tried to make a twist on the minesweeper game but I think it didn’t work very well. It can help sometimes to use a game mechanic and remove things from it, but here I think it took too much. The issues is that there is no way to learn how to play it. Basing your gameplay exclusively on luck won’t cut for a small game.
\nThe added lives idea did add something to the minesweeper game, so what if you kept it, and make it such that you had to treasure hunt in a minefield? Keeping the numbers of minesweeper to indicate where mines are, and then adding a second row of numbers where you indicate where treasures are – now there are two things to look out for, and one of them you need to risk uncovering.
