On September 13, 2024 a body of a homicide victim was found.\nCrime scene analysis suggests odd similarities to series of 13 murders commited 13 years ago by unidentified serial killer (see case no. 20110913/013).\nWe don’t know if we’re dealing with the same killer, copycat or it’s just a coincidence.\nWhat we know is that killer won’t stop on only one victim.

\n

You take a role of a Police officer investigating a case of series of murders revolving around number 13.\nThe killer is leaving clues about the next victim.\nYour objective is to identify the killer and protect their potential victims.

\n

Gameplay:\nOn each day you can review police report and check personal files.\nYou can protect a person from serial killer or arrest if you suspect them being a killer.\nYou can arrest and protect only one person at once.

This was pretty cool! I like the art style. The gameplay and premise of the game is pretty unique, too.

\n

I was able to solve the mystery (I think… is it possible I chose the wrong person..? Haha)

\n

One thing I would have liked is a “next/previous” button when looking at each person. That would make it a bit easier to scan through people, instead of opening/closing each profile.

\n

Overall, cool entry! I enjoyed it

Interesting music choice, nice work adding that in, and I feel it worked in well with the theme.

\n

Great work on the story here, it would have taken a while to figure all this out so nice job. I like the way you built it up. Probably needs some sort of feedback after you click either “arrest” or “protect”. I wasn’t sure if it wasn’t working, or if it just didn’t register, but it turns out something was working because I ID’d the culprit. But having something on each of the cards (like you did with the red X) would be useful, such as a P or A, or even a symbol or emoji so we know that we’ve selected to protect or arrest a person.

\n

Nice GitHub README.

I was not immediately captivated by the game and was just clicking around when I started to understand the pattern and started protecting the next victims. Caught the killer in 9 days with only 4 victims. It was fun in the end.

\n

What frustrated me the most were the controls. I had to click soooo many times. Way too many. Open file, close file, open, close, open, close, open, close, open, close, open, close. I wish the file opened on a sidebar. I wish i could press Escape to close. I wish i could use arrows to move between files. Improving this one thing would have made the game so much more enjoyable.

\n

It was confusing that selecting “protect” or “arrest” didn’t highlight them in any way. I initially just tried… protecting everyone. I’m not even sure what that did.

\n

The music was a bit too repetitive.

Nice whosdunnit game! I would love a shortcut summing up all the suspect clues so far, a search field to lookup possible dead faster, and access to the dead victims to verify where I went wrong.

A fun twist on the game of Guess Who. I liked the giving of a clue for the next victim so you can try to protect them. The notepad was the hardest clue though because so many jobs could use it. On that note, having to click on every single person to find the job that applies to the clue was tedious. Would have been nice if there was some way to reduce the amount of clicking you need to do.

An interesting concept, plenty of scope.

\n

At first I thought it was a bit of a guess who type game where I’d need to rule out a number of people as victims or suspects based on the info being supplied.

\n

Then as clicking the people just brought up their stats, and I understood more about what needed to be done, it became a bit trickier as I’d have to read up each file to narrow down my theory.

\n

It would be good if the person you are protecting or arresting was highlighted on the grid of files.

\n

Maybe hovering over people could give basic stats in a popup so I didn’t need to remember lots of details about each person, as they did look fairly similar to one another.

Fun idea!

\n

Though a bit much reading involved. I think it could be more fun, if the occupation would also be represented with graphics.\nAnd I found the text itself a bit hard to read.

I enjoyed catching that murderous b@stard! Lost civilian or two, but so it goes. My biggest complaint is the having the CLOSE button so far away. Nice entry.

Cool quick game!

\n

I really like how everything is randomized in it; potentially good replay value.

\n

I wish there was a mute music button, and also like some others said it is quite a bit of reading to go about. If it were quicker to click on each person’s profile and close it that would be great.

\n

Love how you were able to give it the look and feel of an old DOS game.

I like the concept of the game. The case files gave me enough hints to know which to protect, and who to suspect and eventually arrest. The graphics and atmosphere is also made well.

\n

It was not clear to me if my guess was correct, and I didn’t understand why some people were X-ed out. Maybe those were the ones that got killed?

\n

It was also confusing if I was looking into one murder case or several murder cases. Because when I arrested someone, I didn’t get feedback if it was wrong or right. (Maybe this will be more understandable after a few tries.) It would be great with some UI-indication of the people I protect

\n

Overall, I think this game has great potential, I only think it needs to improve the feedback to the player to better understand the game. It was a fun experience.

Nice game! I quiet enjoyed puzzling together the evidence. I would have liked if it was possible to navigate between the people using the keyboard instead of having to click and close every time.
