This 2D fighting game is based on fighting game fundamentals known as footsies or neutral game. Due to the size limit, the game’s scope is minimal: you only have one attack and a parry. The goal is to keep your opponent at bay and to avoid getting hit. The game is played in rounds, and the first player to win two rounds wins the match.
\nWill you bait your opponent’s attack and parry it? Or will you try to get in close and land a hit? The choice is yours!
\nThe game only has local multiplayer. You can play with a friend on the same computer or with a friend on another computer using Parsec or a similar service.
\nOn the green fields near Mount Serrat, two otherworldly entities, Omiquiel, the devourer of souls, and Nomiquiel, the bestower of breath, come together once every thousand years to fight for the dominion of the living realms.
\nIn a battle known as The Tournament of Destiny, they fight…
\nPlayer 1\nMove left: S\nMove right: D\nAttack: X\nParry: C
\nPlayer 2\nMove left: H\nMove right: J\nAttack: B\nParry: N
\nGeneral\nShow hitboxes during play: T\nStart the game and menu select: X

It felt really good.\nI wish the parry also dealt damage to the opponent, or left them stunned, because it’s more difficult to pull off and time a parry.

Definitely rough on the edges.\nI feel like we don’t get enough single.keyboard-multiplayer games these days!\nThe fighting itself feels a little slow. A little faster movements, and the ability to move in 2D, would perhaps make it more exciting.\nNice sound effects though.\nThe controls were a bit unexpected, deviating from the standard A/D and J/L.

I have “search as you type” enabled in my browser, so every time I press a key it brings up the search. You should call .preventDefault() for all keyboard events to prevent this. You did this for “x”, but not for other keys.
A well-finished product under the time constraints with a clear route on how to take it to the next level. It would be great to to see you level up as you state in your description with more moves. I also think some fun music in the background couldn’t hurt.

\nVery small on my screen. The graphics were quirky and fun.
\nTricky to play without a second player, maybe some AI would be good.
\nI found I couldn’t press multiple buttons at once, like if I moved pressed attack my player would stop moving to do the attack.
\nI’ve not heard of parsec before, but it looks pretty cool.

Controls and fighting were a little simplistic, and I wish there was a single-player mode instead of hot-seat controls. Overall, pretty decent angel fighting game.

\nAI would be great as 2 players is hard to find while you are voting.
\nLove the sound FX.

Great job, I really love that.
\nCool opening too - feels like an arcade game with the flashing “Press X to start” message. You’ve even got arcade-y sound effects which is awesome. Some background chiptune music would fit nicely with the arcade/8-bit theme.
\nYou did so well on the controls and explanation of the game that it’s a shame not to have it on the main game screen. I do like the way two players can play on the same keyboard - reminds me of the Nintendo emulators and old dos games.
\nThe two players however feels like you should be able to go up and down, especially as they are angels and have wings. Understand you might have opted not to do this due to size constraints but would be great to see that in the next iteration.
\nCute little animations and well done on the game. I especially like the player 2 wins screen (I was player 2!)
