You are Isaac Newton and you are searching for it in the underworld. Defeat Hades and claim it!
\nUse WASD to move, Space for the sword (if you collected it) and Shift to switch to boomerang boomerang (once you collect it) and WASD to control it.
\nHi, my name is Andrei, I am 11 years old and I started coding in python when I was 9 years old. Between then and now I learned Javascript, CSS, php, C# and C. But I mostly use Javascript for the great Canvas API for video games. The game was made using VSCode, and the graphics was made in PixilArt.com.\nI made my own file format for sprites, optimized to be as small as possible (32 characters/sprite), it is just a string with binary data. For sounds and music I used the good old audioContext with oscillators with predefined frequnecies and the footsteps were made with a sawtooth oscilator with frequency set to 1 (played in a loop). I enjoyed this jam, I will probably be back next year.

The pixel graphics were good, the music added tension and the hunting around maze like levels was engaging. I ended up holding the sword out permanently rather than using space to wield it for an attack. I’ve played a few times but didn’t find a boomerang to collect.

\nI look forward to seeing you come back and improve.
\nI hope you enjoyed the game jam as much as I enjouyed testing your game!
\nKeep coding!

\nOtherwise keep it up, we’ll follow your career with great interest :)

\nFirst of all, the game is playable, nice and luckily not a really labyrinth where you encounter a dead end every seconds, for many times just going forward, explore and fight can help you win.
\nFor some reason, I found the sword unbeatable if you hold the button. Not only you eliminate everything, but you also get extra lives. Is it intended?
\nI liked the added sounds, surely something (even on my entry), you don’t find everywhere in this jam.
\nThe gameplay is really rough and it doesn’t support fully the theme unfortunately. The controls needs work.
\nYou did a great job, surely you will get a good placement for this jam, I am confident about it.

I couldnt put the time into completing but I just wanted to bump this up from the bottom of the list so it gets some points and it doesnt become a popularity contest where only popular kids get the most votes.

It’s even more impressive for being only 11 years old. From the description, I’m not sure what I’m searching for, but it was fun to play.
\nI think the controls and sprites are nice. You have some sound effects and music going on too, which is good.
\nI think the game would be slightly easier if I could see more environment and enemies around me. It’s difficult to predict when an enemy is nearby, and I almost always get hit by them when they appear on screen. Some additional feedback like a particle effect when we kill enemies would be nice and feel good. Eye candy is always a nice touch.
\nI like that you have different types of minions and weapons. It makes me want to play more to discover what’s out there.
\nGood work on the game. Looking forward to play more of your games for next year’s jam

I like how the theme was kept with the tombstones and that we got extra information with each tombstone we encountered. That is a great example of incremental story telling.

\nI like the description with a fantastic mix of concepts: “You are Isaac Newton” and “Defeat Hades”.
\nOne thing that would make the game more challenging was if the combat required some timing. Right now you run around with the sword in front of you all the time. I think it would be more interesting if you could press a key to “swing” the sword which would force you to time your attacks to hit the zombies.

\nOverall, graphics and mechanics in the game are really positive for me, I had some fun wandering around the labyrinth, of course there could be some improvements when it comes to making the main character more responsive to controls, I don’t know if the small gates were meant to be some kind of doors but I was unable to get my character into position to fit inside these gates.
\nNonetheless I really like Labyrinth of Death and I hope that you’ll proceed with creating more games, I’m looking forward to play them!

I have “search as you type” enabled in my browser, so every time I press a key it brings up the search. You should call .preventDefault() for all keyboard events to prevent this.
Challenging game!\nI really dig these graphics. They are pretty vintage and stay true to old school pixel art aesthetics. Super minimal but really effective. The controls are simple but very responsive, which is important because the enemies move super fast.\nThe music was a bit annoying after a bit, but could be fixed with some tweaks to the sound of the notes and less repetition.\nI don’t understand how I was getting extra hearts. Is it random when killing mobs?\nCongrats on the game, it’s a really great entry regardless of your age.
