The Knighting of Sr Isaac, is a simple random room generated roguelike game where you combine different weapons with unique attack patterns against enemies.
\nProve yourself worthy of being called a knight and see how far you can go!!!
\n13th century version of The Binding of Isaac! This game is super fun to play and the art and music are great. Enemies behaviors add a lot to the game and the the rooms are just different enough.

\nThese characters look the cutest - I love the art style and the animation!\nIt’s got the right amount of challenge.
\nI love how the different weapons change the gameplay style. The ones I prefer are defnitely not the ones my wife prefers!

I will have to circle back to see if I can get good enough to take on a boss. I loved the sound especially, and the cadence of the music and the animation synced well. Excellent work.

Audio is great.\nReminds me of Adventure on the Atari VCS for some reason.\nManaged a few levels. The enemies aint that bright and can be trapped, especially the bosses which I like and presume this was deliberate.\nWill continue.

Two gameplay features that stood out to me were the substantially different weapons, and the fact that the enemies would take damage from spikes. This has a lot of potential.

\nI have to admit though, after 3 tries I still couldn’t beat the first boss! Even with a projectile weapon I still eventually just got clobbered :)

\nThe spikes are a little over powered, I used these to kill the huge looking bosses which felt like cheating!
\nNot sure I really killed 510 enemies, that stat may be counting the wrong stat.
\nGood Job!

I also liked the option to collect the different weapons. At first I thought shooting my axe in only one direction was too limiting, soon enough I realized that it makes the game more strategic.
\nI found that the range weapons work better for me, so even though I tried some of the melee weapons I always went back for my axe or knives.
\nThe AI could receive some improvement, so that they avoid obstacles, especially the bosses, because I was able to kill 3 of them by just hiding behind a wall and then shooting my axe until they die.

\nMy best was 2440! The ranged weapons definitely seemed better than the close melee, so my usual tactic was just to go to the top left of each area and spam throwing cigarettes er I mean knives at the bad guys. The angled nature of the different weapons felt a bit clunky, but the music and graphics and little wiggly animations were really nice!

I loved killing the enemies by attracking them to the spikes. Sometime the music get slower, I don’t know if it is a bug or a special effect.

Loved the pixel graphics and the two handed attack option.\nI liked the rooms linked by doors that only opened with enemies in that room were defeated - very Zelda like.
\nThe music and sound effects worked well.
\nGoodness the boss is a bit hardcore.

The controls almost did not work for me in terms of the description, the movement worked only on the arrows, attacks and sound could only be controlled with the mouse.

You control the knight who can move around the different rooms, dispatching the baddies, hunting for a key to exit to the next level, or perhaps a new weapon to collect. You can carry two items, one per hand, so it’s up to you to decide which ones to juggle: perhaps a spear and a shield or two throwing axes? I really liked the fact that you had to be considerate about which weapon to take. For example, if you get the throwing knives in your left hand, they can only fire to the left! This means you need to carefully plan your attacks.
\nIt’s graphically great, the controls are smooth and fluid, the animation cute, the effects fit perfectly, and there is plenty of fun to be had. This feels like a complete, well-rounded, and balanced game, and for that, it should be applauded.

One of the very best js13k games I played this year. Excellent work!

The art style is really good, though it took me many injuries to stop parsing the spikes as flowers for some reason. Gameplay and animation are really smooth, and the difficulty curve is well designed. I like the variation in the color palette as you progress through the levels. It’s a bit tough to read when you’ll take damage from an enemy at close range with a melee weapon, and that makes the ranged weapons seem a bit OP in comparison. Overall really well done though, awesome work!
