\n\nIn a shadowy realm of the 13th century, a once-mighty king finds himself trapped in his own castle. Now, he must use his wit and uncover ancient secrets to escape the castle’s ancient curse. Join him on his journey to break free in this enchanting tale of courage and magic.
\n
The 13th King’s Odyssey is a hard precision platformer game. Where you play as an unnamed King. You need to help him to escape the castle.
\nTheme and graphics are on point. Gameplay and controls are both quite good, although maybe a little bit TOO hard – I tried for quite a while but I could not manage to get past that single spike patch on the 3rd level.

As it stands it was super frustrating, and I don’t think I ever made it beyond the 3rd level (the one with 3 tall skinny pillars) as the controls felt like it was as much luck as anything, and it eventually crashed twice during game play.

As it’s mentioned in the description it is a Hard platformer so I take it like that. Sometimes it feels too hard, but also when the level is completed it gives a sense of achievement. It’s so hardcore that I managed to reach level 5 only. In my play, when I jump to a pillar it doesn’t hold and slips and I had to control that. I think with some tweaks it can be a very good platformer.

\nHowever, I do think the game was too hard. I think more emphasis on timing rather than pixel perfect jumps, and lighter gravity would help too. It requires a bit too much perfection to be fun, at least to me. Also a game like this benefits greatly from controller support. Looking at tools used, it looks like you used my starter kit, which has controller support built right in, but it was removed I guess? I can understand needing to make space, but I do think it would have helped a lot here.
\nStill I think fitting these graphics into 13k is a nice achievement, and with just a small amount of tweaking it would be a really fun game! If you tweak the gravity and put in controller support after the comp I’d love to play it again!

\nThe sound and the graphics are well done and they achieve a good look and feel.
\nHowever, I can’t quite if it’s a camera shake or a performance problem (or maybe both?) but whatever that is, makes the game even harder. It distracts from the precision aspect of the game.\nIn addition the gravity feels just a little too strong.\nThose two points make the controls feel a little clunky.
\nTake the above feedback with a pinch of salt - Of the “hard platformers” I enjoyed Super Meat Boy and that’s probably it.

\nJumping from the wall is cool!
\nVery sensitive controls, very difficult to keep balance, could not play to the end…
\nIn general, you can play if you tweak the controls, make them less sensitive… thanks!

\nThe screen shake is a little jarring and sadly I could not make it past the spikes on maybe 3rd level, I always fell into the spikes below.
\nI dont mind hard platformers but felt it wasnt my fault when I kept dying, improved controls / gravity would have really helped which I think will be quite easy to improve.

\nPrecision platformers are cool, such an underrepresented genre.
\nI feel like this game would benefit the most from gamepad controls, on the keyboard I just can’t.

\nGameplay-wise, the mechanics are simple and easy to pick up. The direction and goal of the levels is clear from one glance, which makes it easy to get hooked into playing the game. The platforming is a little bit floaty however. Pressing one direction only slightly can cause the character to move forward further than expected, which can make precision platform quite difficult. Since precision is necessary to move through the levels, this can make the game quite hard.
\nBesides this however, very nice game with a great mood. Well done!

\nAmazing game, the graphics, the atmosphere, the menu. Really the type of game you want to dive into.\nPlus, the levels are quite short, so you want to keep going, nice motivation for the players.
\nToo bad there’s no little music to play along!\nI’ll admit, I love hard games, but this one really got me, I got stuck on level 2 not understanding how to pass the first jump lol.\nMaybe a little tutorial on what mechanics are and how to use them on a step by step basis would avoid players rage quit quickly :)
\nReally neat job overall!

\nI was immediately impressed with the smooth movements of the main character. It is also quite a feat to make you feel like you are ‘feeling’ the players jump moves, and I think this game does that well with the accompanying sound and reverberating visuals.
\nIt was a bit hard at points but overall very impressive!
