NOTE: There are cheats left in game. Don’t use them if you want “authenthicate” experience.\nCheats are: click item in store to get 100 of it. And move or zoome camera with mouse, excapt for the first week.

\n

Terra Mobilis is an experimental game. It is alike to Civilization, but is set on the planet with ever-changing geography. Local nature (including people) has had to adapt, living constantly on the move. People have learned to get by with minimal amount of things with flexible usage. So, a wagon can be used as a ship (with a help of some fabric as the sail), engine can be taken from the car and used in the factory, etc.

\n

You can do one of three things here.\nMove from the location to location using map.\nUse one of the recipes on the right to craft things, collect things from location, or choose the travel method.\nThe last one is picking the research focus ⚗️ once you have the respective tech - it accelerates the book effect on the research of the respective tech.\nEach action takes time, even focus switching.

\n

The more stuff you have in store, the harder it will be to move around, and some percentage will be lost each week. On the other hand, just by having thing (or being on location with them) you make people happier (attracting more of them) and advance the research on relevant topic (check top right of the recipe buttons for what’s “relative”, and books📙 accelerate all research)

\n

Year on the planet has 13 months. On the last month of year, and also throughout each 13th years, various “calamities” 👹☣️🌋 appear. Remove them to reclaim space for the more useful location (as the total number of spots is limited).

\n

“Tool” type resources (🛠️ tools,⛺ housing,🛷 wagons,🐴 horses,⚙️ engines and 🏹 weapons) are expended only at 10% of the listed at recipe rate, but travel requires full horse etc. per each unit of weight. Each pop👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 weight 0.5🏋, and each resource - 0.05🏋

\n

Recipes with 🐾 and 🍃can work differently with different resources.

Interesting use of emojis for this kind of game, must remember that.

\n

I kept getting a lot of lag whilst playing, maybe all of that console logging doesn’t need to be there.

Lag is from the terrain updating. Words about the “ever-changing geography” was not the flavor text:)

Awesome. The initial experience is a little overwhelming, but I suppose that’s true of all Civ-like games. I’m pausing with 1586 population, 11705 happiness, on the 641st week. I unlocked all jobs and bonuses. My main strategy was to focus on Grasslands and Forests for food and sticks, then opportunistically grabbing other nearby resources once food was stable. This is a very impressive amount of content for a 13kb game! Great job!

Thanks for plaiyng! I was late with the features, so I had only about a day and a half for balancing. Was not sure it will not all fall apart about first hundred weeks or so. Good to know it’s playable after that :)

I feel like I need a tutorial to fully understand the game, the map looks great and nice use of emojis!

\n

Can see a lot of effort went into so many items!

Thanks! Tutorial sadly was out of scope because I was running out of time and space. Though now I am thinking that I could fit some visual mini-guide into the game screenshot…

I’m not able to play because i’m unfortunately missing some emoji

\n

edit: i didn’t vote for this game because i didn’t think it was fair, but FYI it’s within the rules to allow external emoji fonts.

That’s unfortunate. Could not include custom art because of the space limitations. Maybe only some very primitive ones… It should work on chrome and chrome-based browser, looks like you had something else.

\n

I’ll try to not rely on emojis next years.

“Terra Mobilis is an experimental game” seems legit.\nI’m totaly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of buttons and things and stuff :-D

\n

Some kind of introduction or tutorial and soundeffects/music would have been nice (probably didn’t fit into the zip)

\n

The changing landscape and the rendereing of it is very cool.

The terrain looks awesome! I couldn’t understand the ui fully. I’m not sure what your initial locaton is and how you move around.

Great game, coding a quite complex resource management packed in 13Kb is outstanding, and the final result is fun too!

\n

The UI should be improved a bit, by the way.

Visually very impressive, the “world” you’ve created for this is quite large and detailed.

\n

I’m afraid I didn’t get what needed to be done or how to play. There was no tutorial or hint at what to do. Was it a sim that I just get to watch unfold?

\n

I clicked on loads of things which just seemed to zoom in to that thing and then give stats and not actions. So it appeared that I had no control over anything on the map.

\n

Like some other people testing the emoji didn’t all work for me, some places have unicode value, others had “UNKNOWN”

Impressive to have a small 4X game in 13kb!\nNice art and a lot of things to manage! It’s a hard part to develop, but a short tutorial would have been nice, it tooks me time to understand the mechanics, but it’s a cool game!

this world map is absolutely fascinating! I love all the little details, like being able to zoom in and inspect the various denizens of a vast landscape. It was truly overwhelming. I did not end up figuring out what to do, but I could sense a delicate balance between dozens of interesting systems that, given time, I could perhaps peel back the layers to and eventually find the game hiding in this vast (cool looking!) mountain of information. I feel like I missed out in something really cool that I would enjoy if it was presented one piece at a time rather than all at once, which scared me away. I WANT LESS! =) but absolutely amazing work here, the potential is very exciting I can tell where you’re headed with this incredibleness!!!!!!

This is a phenomenal effort, unfortunately it’s quite hard to get the hang of, but it’s still an incredibly impressive feat, especially the quality of the map and (simply) how many interactions and elements you managed to squeeze into that UI with the limitations.
