Experience what it’s like to be a 13th century tavern owner. Serve patrons their drinks in a timely manor, lest they get angry! Oh, and watch out for moles.

This is a nice complete game. Some omnipresent, persistent drinking music would have completed the ambiance. I was a little confused originally where the beer was being placed because the size of the “avatar holding the beer” looked like it was going to go to the tile to the left. But was so surprised when you could hold two glasses at once! Also, the increase in difficulty was really well done, and speaking as a former bartender - I feel like not much has changed in the centuries since :) Well done!

Nice idea, a lot of frantic keyboard bashing! Well made, all worked fine, very challenging once both rooms were open.

\n

My first go I ended up killing everyone and having the place burned down ooops!

I wish the camera wouldn’t follow the character - I got a bit of sickness.

\n

Other than that, this game is fun!\nI wish I could murder some of my patrons with that sword though :P

A nice game! Frantic, and I got more hooked than I initially expected. I like how the area opens up, which makes it more difficult but how can also put out the fires and repair the tables. Well done!

I must admit: When I first played the game, I wasn’t really convinced. (Perhaps I had already played to many other games that day.) But now, that I have played all the games, and recall them, this is one of the games I remember best. Even though it’s not “impressive”, it actually has everything a good game must have, and by now I think that if I’d create a list of my favourite games of this year, this game would be on it.

I really enjoyed this one right off the bat. It’s like the missing follow up to Tapper!

\n

Looked ok, sounded ok, played great. I did get overwhelmed pretty quickly, I think one level after the fires started, but I had fun doing it.

A solid effort. And, the gameplay is actually pretty good. The style is a real throwback. Once I got the hang of it, it was pretty fun to play. It’s simple and good. Well done!

Wow, really cool game. I liked it a lot! Very polished and complete game which feels really good. There is not much which could be changed to improve it. The main thing I would improve is to add some music. I think some fast and nerve wrecking medival music would really fit here and add a lot to the atmoshpere. MAybe also some tavern background noise would be cool. I also like the art a lot with one exception: It would be really cool if the guests would have been in the same art style and not just stick figures.\nThese are just a few minor things I noticed. Besides that, this is a very cool entry! Congrats.

Hi there Benjamin!

\n

Great job on this submission, it was a very intuitive game and well done! Here’s my feedback:

\n
    \n
  1. I really enjoyed the simple UI and I was pleasantly surprised when the character started turning angry and burning the table. I lost the first attempt because of this, but I wasn’t mad!
  2. \n
  3. I didn’t realize at first that a mug had to be filled - It would be nice to have a conditional statement on the first time they pick up a mug that says “fill me here” so the player understands that mechanic. I figured it out through trial and error but having the player be taken through a mini tutorial is always a good thing
  4. \n
  5. Really enjoyed the overflow concept - a good way to expand the map!
  6. \n
  7. The graphic asset for the sword rack is a little hard to see, might be worth expanding that to take up 2 tiles so it’s easier to visually see it.
  8. \n
  9. Good keyboard bindings
  10. \n
  11. The music and sound effects could be enhanced - I didn’t get a tavern ‘feel’ without any music.
  12. \n
  13. GREAT work on using eslint and prettier! You get bonus points for your code structure and documentation.
  14. \n
  15. Also great work including a test directory for pathfinding - extra bonus points there!
  16. \n
\n

Overall, really great submission and I look forward to seeing what’s next! Feel free to hit me up on Twitter/X @jedihacks to have a discussion!

Hello! Thanks for your submission to js13k!\nI’m sure you’ve worked hard on your game, but I’m not aware of how much time you spent on it, so excuse me if things I mention were in your mind, but got left out in the rush of the month or just because you hit the 13kb limit :)

The game becomes quite hectic after a while. Pretty fun though. Got me thinking of Tapper on the C64, even though they are not really that similar. Since the movement was grid based I found it a bit dizzying when moving back and forth between the barrels and the nearby tables.
