In Italy, people say that black cats bring bad luck. But don’t worry—you can chase the curse away! When a black cat appears, scream into your microphone to scare it off and earn a lucky point.

\n

Points are shown as horn signs (🤘), a traditional Italian gesture believed to keep misfortune away.

\n

Be careful:

\n

Stay silent when you see a non-black cat, or you’ll lose a point.

\n

Miss a scream when a black cat shows up, and you’ll lose a point too!

\n

Run out of points and the game is over.

\n

Survive long enough to reach 7 points—just like the 7 lives every cat has—and you’ll advance to the next level, where the cats move faster and the challenge grows tougher.

\n

🎤 To play, make sure your microphone is on and find a quiet place to shout your way to victory!

Strange idea and kind of fun - I enjoyed the unusual interface options (yelling at my computer)

Impressive graphics and sound.\nWarning: on Windows, flags emoji don’t work natively. We just see the letters “I T” instead of italian flag.\nNext time, provide a fallback (for example in svg it only takes a few dozen bytes).\nAlso, you could have added a way to play without microphone even if it’s a solid gameplay mechanic by itself. A backup plan using mouse or keyboard would have been welcome on PC.

I wasn’t able to get it to work on desktop, didn’t seem like screaming worked, but it was working on mobile.

\n

I wish there was a bit of visual feedback for the current volume of the microphone, so I could tell how much I need to scream.

\n

Fun idea though!

Clever gimmick, using the microphone! I live in a tiny apartment with thin walls, so I just tapped the mic to make noise instead of screaming; it worked ok.

\n

It would be helpful to have some visual feedback to know how close you are to the noise threshold.

Interesting concept integrating the microphone. Good job on trying something different here.

I wasn’t able to play the game without a microphone

\n

Perhaps you could add the ability to click on the black cats?

\n

Still, I liked the concept, and the cat graphics were really good, alongside the slide-in animations for the cats

What an interesting idea with the microphone, definitely very unique! Haven’t seen anything like this in this compo before. Also, great interpretation of the theme. I liked including the number 7 as well for the 7 lives (although some people insist it’s 9?!).

\n

Ultimately I felt like the game was a bit too simplistic though and became way too fast to me after around level 10 to continue playing.

\n

Great job on a very unique entry!

Pretty great idea, using the microphone. I wish there was an alternative way in case you can’t make any noise. I get it that’s the main part of the game though!

\n

I love when a game uses a new or a different mechanism.

Great idea for a concept! I got a bit uncomfortable screaming at home, so I just slapped my laptop microphone instead. Glad the game accepted that, too ;) Surprisingly addictive, despite being quite repetitive. I think if you added couple more twists and variations to this game, it could be a real banger!

\n

I think some intense (and maybe speeding up) music would have been the cherry on the cake.

Really nice to see a game using a unique mechanic. I just blew into my mic which also worked.

Thanks for your submission! First, I can’t know how much effort you’ve put on the game, so don’t mind me if I get cliché or repeat ideas you simply didn’t get the time (or kb) to finish. Second, great you have finished and shipped a complete game!

\n

Amazing innovative job here with the mic input :)

\n

Great work on the animations and the game feel. I really liked you took care of the timings and mixed it a bit for the surprise moments or expecting a reaction. The swooshes were really convincing.

\n

You could improve the mic input testing. It took me a browser restart to even get Chrome to read the microphone and even then I was fighting with which input the game should be reading from, while the round was already started. I realized that the game is only asking for the mic input after the game starts and this in part the problem.
