I came in to the office early and switched as many M and N keys on keyboards as I could. Some might say I’m a monster, but others will say nomster.

\n
\n

Works fine on desktop, too. More fun in VR.

\n

Nomsters are legally considered to be NPCs for the Decentralized OP Guild Challenge.

cute little game, i played it in vr.

\n

nice of you to include a mute button, kudos to you.

\n

the gun is strangely shot on trigger release, rather than “on trigger down”. the demo projects out there usually set a down threshold to 50% trigger pressed, and then wait until it returns to below 20% or so. that way you can detect the down event without false triggers.

\n

the bullets travel slow, and the “birds” movement are very unpredictable. i basically shoot them while they are to the side.

\n

first playthrough i got 9% hit rate, 2nd playthrough was 8%.

Those nomsters look almost too cute to shoot at them…\nProbably thats the reason why the player only has this lame soft ball thrower… where is my freakin’ railgun?! Or a BFG 9000! Yes, that would fit. :-P

\n

Pretty hard to hit them. I got only 27% accuracy at my best try.\nIts an entertaining game.\nNice music, btw.

(played on desktop, i have no matching VR equipment, only a PSVR)

Cute monsters! They are very quick, I had to shoot them in the corners of the screen in the end as I just kept missing.

\n

Nice simple graphics, I know VR is tough so well done!

I don’t have VR, but I gave it a shot =)

\n

The shot evasion mechanic is super nicely done. When I had only 3 last nomsters it was hard to trick them to have a successful shot.

\n

Cute mobs, or should I say nobs? And music. Definitely worth trying if you have VR or just want to practice FPS accuracy.

Nice job. Played on desktop, I don’t have VR. On my first playthrough, I assumed the goal was to optimize for time, so I just clicked frantically and got 6% accuracy. Then I realized the goal was accuracy, so 2nd playthrough 36% and last playthrough 50%. It seems like optimizing for accuracy is mostly a matter of waiting patiently for them to go to the corners? I think the projectile hit box could be a little bit bigger. Overall, this was fun. Nice graphics, cute enemies. Nice job!

Those nomsters sure are fast! Played it on desktop. I was mostly just shooting in one spot and hoping they would cross my path, then noticed they got stuck on the edge so targeted them there :D.

I was able to shoot most of them by just firing at the lower-left corner since they move randomly.

\n

Gameplay was decent, but I wish there were more factors to it.

\n

Nice job.

Very small game, which feels like you could have gotten more out of your 13Kb. That being said, it worked well, the shooting, the guns and music were all well executed.

\n

Best part of the game execution were the nomsters, on the one hand very simple, but the the way their faces rotated while jumping and moving left and right just instantly brought them to life!

\n

Well done!

Thanks! I’m glad you liked the little dudes.

And you’re completely right, had I had more time, I could probably make it into a more fleshed out experience. This was my second submission this year, so had to cut all of the corners :)

Accuracy 9% (played on desktop)

\n

Jesus christ was this a frustrating game. But not in a bad way, I had fun. Those bastards are hard to hit. But also it kinda felt like the bullets were too slow or at least took too long to hit the nomsters.

\n

The game is cute and the music too. The surrounding scenario was a bit odd; the game could be a bit more immersive instead of making me feel like i’m in a VR.

Played in VR. I think this game teaches us something about life and I’m trying to put to words what that is. To start from the top, I played it a couple of times, and the more I tried the worse my accuracy was. First time I played, blasting like there’s no tomorrow, 13% accuracy. I said to myself, Jure, that’s bad, you wasted so much ammo. So I said I’ll focus and I played again… 10% accuracy. Then I was upset, one in 10 shots making it, that’s terrible! And for the next round, I really focused, locked in, just you wait, nomsters, it’s shooting time!! … 7% accuracy. @$!#!

The music was fun and kinda recognisable.

Theme: The game effectively captures this year’s theme of fear surrounding the number 13.

\n

Gameplay: The accuracy of the mechanics is commendable. However, it would be beneficial to display the number of shots fired. Shooting at corners seems to be more effective when the monsters are in motion. Additionally, having game-related buttons in a more visible area would improve usability; the UI could use some refinement.

\n

Audio: The audio is good and contributes to a specific mood.

\n

Innovation: The game appears to be a straightforward shooter, lacking distinctive innovative elements.

\n

Graphics: The UI could benefit from more visually appealing elements, and incorporating atmospheric backgrounds would enhance the overall experience.

\n

Controls: The controls are intuitive and easy to use, with no issues encountered.

The use of colorful, playful “Nomsters” is an excellent choice, making the game visually appealing and fun. The minimalistic design with simple shapes and bold colors keeps the focus on the action without overwhelming the player. The soft, rounded designs of the Nomsters give the game a friendly and inviting feel, which contrasts nicely with the shooter mechanics.\nMaybe some variety in the background or environment could add depth to the visual experience.\nThe simplicity of the design is very effective, allowing players to focus on the gameplay while enjoying the colorful and quirky characters. The Nomsters are charming, and the overall visual aesthetic is fun and lighthearted. Great job creating a visually engaging and approachable game!

Theme: Great match to the theme even though the nomsters are way too cute to be scary :-)

\n

Gameplay: The game was enjoyable and intuitive to play.

\n

Audio: Amazing how it reminds me of Wonder Boy and I am a huge retro fan.

\n

Innovation: Nice shooting game in XR. I wonder how much more the XR space could have been leveraged.

\n

Graphics: Really cute and polished despite the simplicity.

\n

Controls: Intuitive and reactive.

Gameplay: The gameplay is straightforward – there isn’t much more than shooting 13 bouncing balls. The bouncing movement of the balls can make it frustrating to get the final ball or two until you find a trick. Showing accuracy % at the end adds a fun additional flare.

\n

Graphics: The models are simple but effective with a touch of hand-made uniqueness

\n

Controls: The controls are straightforward and work as expected

\n

Theme: It met the conditions for using the 13 theme but aside from the number of balls there wasn’t a core tie-in

\n

Audio: Good basic sfx and nice touch to have music

\n

Innovation: Shooting balls

I really liked the aesthetics—simple but very beautiful. And the effects when the enemies explode are great.\nI would perhaps fine-tune the collision detection a bit, as sometimes I fired multiple shots at a stationary enemy, and it seemed like they weren’t hitting. As for ideas, I’d love to see a time-based mode where you have to eliminate all enemies within a certain time limit. Great work overall!
