Which army/team destroys all of the opposing team’s bricks will conquer the land! Since cannons during this era weren’t as advanced as the ones in the following centuries, accidents might happen during a battle. strategy and mostly luck might help your team win.

Nice simple game.

\n

Not sure why you needed to switch between fire buttons for different teams but yet had the same arrow buttons to maneuver?

\n

The ball didn’t always go the way you expect them to but it does say in the instructions that accidents happen.

Something is wrong with the shots firing. Started to shoot at themselves. It’s very raw, and I think it’s a great test, but you need to move towards making a new and more improved game. If this is your first game ever, great job on the effort!

Accidents are a nice touch but felt a bit unnatural. Would have been great to have an animation that said something went wrong, otherwise it feels like a bug.

The idea of playing against each other is interesting. Do we need to lower the probability of making a missed shot? When the number of bricks ran low, it was difficult to hit the bullets, and it was difficult to decide whether to win or lose.

For a first attempt at making gaems in JS, this is neat!

\n

Keep it up, there’s a lot to learn, but the stuff is exciting.

G’day!

\n

Reds won 5-0 :)\nAn interesting idea and its implementation. It was fun to shoot :).

\n

I liked the idea of a gun that has its own minor malfunctions - I had fun :D

\n

I think it would be even more fun if the enemy team moved dynamically to make it harder to hit, or if the cannon fired multiple cores sometimes, or even better if this game could be played with two players…!

\n

Although in my opinion it would have been better to keep the sight from the previous round, I had to start from the same start all the time, it was difficult to adjust the sight when there were few units left. When I won for the reds - it was written that the blues won :). Several times it seemed that the nucleus had no collision with the army (rarely). I was also surprised that the initial text “Press Y to start” was an image, as I might have preferred text to the canvas (although there are times when an image is better than text, for example if the text contains a lot of styles, or its size will be smaller than the code that describes it).

\n

In any case, this is a good start, thanks and congrats!

Ok this has the potential to be a really fun single-keyboard 2-player game. But Most of the times, the cannon balls shoot in the wrong direction. Is this what you meant in the description, that accidents happen? It seems to happen a bit too often.\nIt would be nice if the position of the cannon was preserved between turns. Also, on a technical note, relying on the keypress event is unreliable because it depends on the users key-repetition settings. You should listen for key down and key up, and apply a constant movement to the cannon.\nGraphics-wise, the minimalist style is fine, but you could try to make the game less blurry but sizing the canvas correctly.\nIt’s a nice idea with good potential if you want to continue it.

Unfortunately, I could not properly play: I have “search as you type” enabled in my browser, and you don’t call .preventDefault() on key events, so when I press a or l, the page search opens for me.

I can imagine that this might be a fun experience when you play it in local multiplayer. I think it is a very good idea to add some randomness to this simple game, as with that it adds some fun to it, eventhough the gameplay is not very deep. The controls I would adapt a bit. Either use the same fire button for both players or give them both their own controls: WASD for one player and Arrow buttons for the other so that they can leave the hands on the keyboard during playing.\nIt is a pretty simple game and maybe not the most innovative, but I think you could have a bit of fun if you play it with two players locally.\nContratulations to your entry.

I think if you could add some audio (when bricks get destroyed, or the shooting of the cannons), that would help with the game being build as part of the theme.

\n

Controls was a little difficult as the respective teams’ cannons kept friendly firing against their own blocks even thought it was aimed towards the opponent.

\n

It just feels like pong and tetris graphics combined into one

It’s really weird, looks like you have velocity from previous army firinig, so your targeting become useless.

Cool idea, but the “accidents might happen” mechanic makes it more difficult to play than fun I think. The projectile keeps its velocity after it breaks a brick, even when switching teams. So if red’s shot ends going down-left, then they will always shoot their own stack on the next turn. I thought it was a bug until I read the explanation text more carefully.
