We need more high quality entries for the WebXR category. This was not that. Not even sure it was a game without a game over.

\n

Edit: Perhaps I was a bit harsh after my first play session above. At least let me give some constructive feedback.

\n

The point counting make it virtually impossible to die, combined with the robots not flying at you but over you, that’s why I thought this game had no game over.\nGraphics are ok, but look a bit too familiar adding to the game looking copied. The muzzle flash is nice but without at least something gun like looked a bit odd in thin air. The robots have an immersion breaking overlapping problem which you could solve using alphaTest.

\n

Overall, this clearly showed you can make a VR game, but it looked like you didn’t spend too much time on it. I hope you participate next year to blow us away!

Thank you for your super kind words ❤️\nThe game is certainly incomplete. Check out my tweet about it\nhttps://x.com/CartesiusXYZ/status/1834584508475101267

The shifting texture on the ground is slightly nausea inducing (because the view registers motion while my body doesn’t). The vaporware sun is a nice touch.

I can imagine. Sorry about that, I wish I could take a month off for this amazing hackathon. Buttttt I wrote fun tweet about the creation of this broken game.\nhttps://x.com/CartesiusXYZ/status/1834584508475101267\nEnjoy

Simple fun game, I can see a lot of effort went into the aspects of the game you did complete so I hope you learned something through that process.

\n

You have all the basics working and a great environment.

\n

Lots of potential, come back next time and improve on where you left on! I commend anyone who trys the difficult categories!

It looks like you have a great start of something. One thing I would suggest is allowing to play using the mouse. When developing a VR game it just makes it way easier if you can play through with the mouse and also allows people to check it out without needing to set up the VR. Looking forward to seeing what you make next year!

Thank you for your awesome feedback. You had a lot of nice things to say for a very partial game sadly.

You can check out my attempt and story about it from this tweet\nhttps://x.com/CartesiusXYZ/status/1834584508475101267

I was able to start the game on desktop by “shooting” with the mouse, but then not able to shoot once the game started.

\n

Still, looks like a fun game

\n

I’ll have to try again when I get a VR setup

Theme: The game doesn’t clearly convey its main topic. The presence of robots doesn’t connect to the theme of fear associated with the number 13.

\n

Gameplay: The mechanics feel very basic. The author could enhance the experience by incorporating projectiles or introducing more complex game mechanics. Additionally, the game appears to run indefinitely, continuously deducting from the player’s score, which may lead to frustration.

\n

Audio: There is currently no audio. But the game could benefit from it.

\n

Innovation: There doesn’t seem to be any innovative elements present.

\n

Graphics: The visuals show promise, but they need more refinement and should better align with the main theme.

\n

Controls: The controls require further improvement for a smoother gameplay experience.

I totally agree with you and appreciate your feedback. I had major plans to do about 95% of what you are talking about. I wish I had more time to invested in it. Luckily with this hackathon you can always write, till next year!

\n

I wrote all about it in my tweet\nhttps://x.com/CartesiusXYZ/status/1834584508475101267

Theme: The only relationship to the theme is through the number of the regiment. It sounds a bit far in my opinion.

\n

Gameplay: Pretty basic shooter game but really well executed. I just wish there would be an end.

\n

Audio: Not Available.

\n

Innovation: This is a nice implementation of a VR shooter.

\n

Graphics: The grid is creating a bit of moiree pattern on the background which are a bit distracting, but the overall game looks well-fitting together.

\n

Controls: The controls were not always as reactive as they could be.

Graphics: The visuals make creative use of basic elements – a nice sun and grid shapes give off cyberpunk sunset vibes – but enemies are rudimentary sprites.

\n

Gameplay: Gameplay is straightforward and has basic scoring but does not become challenging and lacks end conditions.

\n

Innovation: The nice custom scene-scape adds a bit of uniqueness to this wave shooter clone

\n

Controls: Controls are minimal but functional

\n

Theme: Not a super close connection to the theme except for name

\n

Audio: No audio

Fun game! I might have missed having more feedback from the gun—maybe some sort of ray, bullet, or visual effect to see that it’s hitting the enemy, and perhaps some sound as well to enhance that feedback when shooting or when hitting the enemy.\nBut overall, the environment and gameplay are very well done. Great work!
