Really cool game. Loved the retro style. The controls were intuitive although I did accidentally tap the “q” and quit my game while trying to navigate. Might be worth having a “Are you sure, you’d like to quit” message. Also, might be nice to have a clearer goals. I Immediately went to the castle and got savaged.

Alright this looks really interesting. Cute graphics and sound effects.\nI couldn’t figure out out to get fruit. I got 1 of each accidentally but then never got any again. I tried shooting and interacting with trees.\nThe user of alerts is a bit disruptive to the game.\nI’m not sure if I’m supposed to be able to go to the castle, that seems impossible with constant guards spawning. The game has potential but I couldn’t figure out how to progress.

I instantly felt like I was 10 playing some of the first video games I can remember. It took me a couple of times playing to start to get the hang of things, and to discover the whole leveling system and game progression system. Once I got the hang of things it was quite the stroll down the better parts of memory lane for me running around and fending off killer rabbits. I will likely be playing this one more to try and get that blasted expensive bow I’m hoping becomes affordable.

The use of alerts for user confirmation, while very code-efficient, causes issues with the music/sound, as the alert halts execution of javascript, leaving tones running in the background. Maybe pausing before the alerts would have resolved the issue, not sure, but I ended up taking off the sound fx (but leaving on the music) as they could also end up getting stacked and hurt my ears a bit.

I’m not 100% certain I understand all of the leveling system, as I maxed everything out at 10 pretty quickly in Level 4, so I’m looking forward to seeing more about the games internals when I go perusing the github projects.

It all works well, nice map, castle and small animals running about. The combat requires a lot of running about.

Firing arrows feel good. Adding a sound effect when you hit enemies would make it feel even better. I think the difficulty is balanced well enough, and I appreciate the GOD MODE for hardcore players.

I would probably have set music and sound to ON by default, and I think it’s good that you have a mute button for each of them, I usually don’t add these things to these small games, but it’s always appreciated.

I like the retro-style, it reminded me of the good old Amiga-days, and the first pen-and-paper roleplay games my mates and me used to create and play.

Cool that there is something like a quest-system, overall it should me more clear what is expected to do. It would also be nice to add some interaction with the buildings, maybe a dungeon in the cave, if you manage to get rid of the (endless) bears?

The usage of window.alert() is not so nice. I’d prefer to display a div with the message, and that div could even auto-hide after a couple of seconds. So the gameplay is not interupted that much. That div could also be styled like a speech bubble and positioned near the “speaker” (questgiver/merchant)

You control Robin Hood who must move around the grid-like forest, shooting the animals and collecting the coins they drop. These can be spent with the merchant in the village who will exchange them for apples and oranges (note: the amount you get and how much it costs is randomized, so you can try it a few times to get a better deal). Once you have enough items, you can give them to the 4 ‘quest giving’ villagers outside the huts.

\n

If you clear all animals, the level increases and a new set spawn out. If you go too close to the dark castle a stream of baddies come out, so don’t stay there for too long! If you go near the cave, bears come out. Killing this requires a lot of navigating, back-tracking and shooting arrows until they’re gone.

\n

I ended up playing this for much longer than I expected, getting to Level 7 before I ran out of arrows and promptly died! Also, I would question the ability for a little rabbit to kill Robin Hood :)

\n

What a great fun little game this was, though. I know lots of people have knocked the use of the Alert pop-up for dialogue, but I liked it because it naturally paused the game (which you can’t do any other way). If you play with WASD be careful about hitting Q by mistake, as it quits out. Cursors are safer.

Cool idea! The art style and the gameplay reminds me a bit of Zelda. I really liked the shooting mechanic it needed a bit of skill but was not too difficult. The sound was basically also ok, but everytime a popup came up the music gets stuck on one note which is a bit annoying. I also encountered some bugs, which might need some attention:
