Putt Till You Die is a 2 dimensional bird’s eye view mini-putt golf game written in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

\n

The game its self doesn’t really fit in with the theme but hey, you could literally die whilst playing the game.. as you could any other game ;)

\n

Also during the production of this game, my dear friend Ewook passed away after a short battle with cancer. He loved golf and up until a month before his passing was playing 4 rounds a week. He was 84 and this game is dedicated to him.

\n

The aim of Putt Till You Die is to basically putt the ball into the goal. That’s pretty much it.

\n

Controls:

\n\n

Putt Till You Die is best enjoyed in fullscreen and with some chillout music playing in the background.

\n

Note that when you close the Putt Till You Die application, the game state will be persisted to the browsers local storage, so the next time you start Putt Till You Die, the game will continue exactly in the same state.

I think the aiming would be more intuitive if the arrow always started from the ball, like in most golf games I have played. Otherwise pretty solid game.

so smooth and stylish! the physics are really good. I was impressed by the use of rotating obstacles on level eight! great work.

As you say doesn’t really fit the theme but still a fun and effective golf game. I wish you could build up shot power in a way other than dragging, because if I ended up in a position where I was near the edge of the screen, my shot velocity was limited because I could only get as much power as the distance between my ball and the screen edge.

\n

Otherwise really fun, I played all the way through and enjoyed it! Well done.

Sorry to hear about your friend :( Very smooth, fun gameplay! Definitely light on the theme though

Some nice details in the game, when you get close to the hole there is a noise so you know you were super close to putting! The stars when you get a hole in one, The sand noise is great too.

\n

For a mini golf game it is really well made.

\n

Would have been nice to see a score card filled out as you play.

\n

Also sorry to heat about your friend

Sorry for your loss. No-one died while I played, apart from my pride (terrible golfer here). Looks like the levels are procedurally generated?

The aiming feels a little bit off and it takes a while to get used to the power applied to the ball.\nCould’ve done with a skull for a ball and a graveyard looking place with the hole as the grave and that would’ve fit the theme while keeping the game the same.\nFun though!

A fun top-down golf game.

\n

I enjoyed playing it and trying to find ways to rebound off the obstacles to get the least shots for each hole. The physics model seems pretty good.

\n

Somehow managed to get a hole-in-one on holes 8, 9 and 11, which seemed to be a miracle, but I liked the little star animation.

\n

The SFX were appreciated but didn’t really fit the game or the theme.

\n

Well done, I enjoyed it.

Simple, yet nice looking graphics. It all fit well together. I liked the sound effects when hitting the walls, but I felt the other sound effects didn’t fit in as well. The animations for hole in 1 was satisfying, and the fade in fade out effect made the game feel polished.

\n

When I drag the direction of where I’m shooting, put the arrow on the ball no matter where I start dragging from (with the mouse,) that would make the controls better.

Solid game. Really polished. How is the average decided? Some of them were hard to beat.\nThe game is really chill and fun to play. The grid lets you calculate the balls trajectory with great precision which I like.\nThe sounds were a tad harsh.\nNo connection to the theme, but still a nice game. Good job.

Auto-generated levels (I guess?) is a nice touch, I like how chill the experience is.

Nice putt game, felt nice and easy to play. Liked the sound effects and particle effects on hole in one. Your friend would be proud! Good job.

Good implementation of a classic game. I liked the levels with the rotating obstacles (or even helpers).\nFunny sound effect on the close calls. But I didn’t hear any music.

Great documentation! It’s informative and thorough. The dedication of this game to your friend is very touching.

\n

It’s good to have the controls documented on the page here; would also be great to have them on the game screen too. Also not sure what the “TILDE” key is… (so I wasn’t able to bring up the controls in the game). Having them on the game screen before the game starts is a great idea and then having the option to open them at any time is great.

\n

Wasn’t immediately obvious that that you could bounce off the walls; but I figured it out! I love the dynamic with the water and the sand though. It’s cool.

\n

Sound effects are super fun, and I love the sound when you get it in the hole! The physics of the game are very smooth, things such as the ball slowing down/speeding up are very cool. Also love the fact that the game state is saved in the browser. Very nice work.
