The 13th Century was a chunk of time during which, according to Wikipedia, pretty much only war happened. In this game, you play a pacifist who’s just trying to survive. While a bunch of enemies attack you, your goal is to simply parry their attacks.

I know it’s meant to be hard but I’ve got -2000 points and I don’t know if I parried correctly even once

Parretty good game :D

\n

I felt like the controls felt a little clunky to the game though

On my laptop, the game had a scrollbar because it wouldn’t fit on the screen, and this seemed to cause the sword to be about 2 inches above my cursor.

\n

On my desktop, the game ran at double speed (120hz monitor), and was impossible. So it ended up mostly unplayable for me.

Definitely theme-inspired, and an interesting gameplay concept.

\n

I found all but the first few levels to be pretty much impossible, as you only have a split second to move the mouse. Maybe upcoming (next) attacks could have a fading in outline, so the player can plan their next steps if they are paying attention; or, a successful parry should slow down the next attack, so there’s a reward for managing to parry.

This is a very interesting idea, and I could see many more levels of this keeping me entertained through the gambit. I loved the dual wielder, and was almost expecting to come across some that weren’t parallel.

\n

I even see potential for a multiplayer game with a sort of “Attack”/“Parry” multi-step round where you setup attacks for your opponent to Parry while they do the same for you, then you get to Parry each other’s sequence. Just an idea I had while playing, how to play with others.

\n

I did want a bit more precision in my ability to set the direction, like perhaps click and drag to set hilt and tip, or maybe a big/little swing like Q/E for big swing and A/D for small adjustments or something, but I’m also not very good at arcade style games.

Tough but fun game. Simple and easy to learn, not to master.

Looks like rythm or reaction game, but maybe I’m too old for all this sh*t\nI can’t hit any enemies at all, maybe 5%)\nIn general it’s not bad, interesting gameplay, but too complicated as for me.

i laughed throughout the game . it was very amusing and i found the score going beyond -100 very funny lol. though i didn’t expect the rotation to have a 180 deg limit. it was very interesting!

I couldn’t read any texts in the fantasy font, as the default font for me was something really unreadable, so I probably missed something from your game.

Graphics are basic but the game concept is original and the game play is really fun! I liked the diversity of the enemies but sometimes it seems too difficult to beat them.

I had to set the monitor refresh rate down to 60 Hz and use Chromium instead of Firefox for it to be winnable. Otherwise the game was running too fast.

\n

It would be nice if the sword could be rotated all the way.

\n

I liked having different enemy styles, it adds variety to it.

I did not have the reactions to get through even the first level with a positive score. Would have been nice to have some wind up animations or something so I could get in position. I feel like this could benefit from having really simple patterns early on, then start combining them to form more complex ones later, like DDR with swords

A fun yet simple game.

\n

I liked the sound effects. The game concept was good.

\n

You need to be pretty quick with the mouse to get a reasonable score.

\n

It was good to have some variety between the enemies.

Hey there!

\n

What an incredible concept!

\n

I found it super interesting and got quite excited to beat my score every time.\nI like the fact that there’s no “losing” just a bad score, so you keep going and don’t feel like you have to stop.

\n

Try thinking of those who don’t have a qwerty keyboard (yes there are!) maybe adding support for arrows would have been nice.

\n

I would have maybe added a level 0 - tutorial, where you can actually take the time to place your sword and understand how to rotate it.

\n

Otherwise, sick job!

I thought the idea of rotating the sword to parry was an interesting concept and enjoyed playing through the battles! Some music to accompany it would’ve been a nice touch (maybe in time with the parrying somehow)

I am a big fan of minimal looking games that are anything but minimal! Parry is a visually appealing game that is relatively quick to grasp after playing a few times. Whilst quick to grasp, it is not easy - making it very addictive.

\n

It would be great to see a skippable game play tutorial incorporated into the game play as the first round.

Cool concept, it reminds me of that VR game, Until You Fall — the parry works pretty much the same there. This game mechanic has a lot of potential
