Ōnamazu is a giant catfish that lives under the Japanese islands and is known for causing earthquakes. Or maybe he warns people about upcoming earthquakes? It’s a bit of both, really.
\nArrows or WASD to move\nSpace to attack/thrash
\nEating fish fills the energy bar. To do so, you must hit the fish’s body with Onamazu’s head. Otherwise, they will just swim over each other. Once it is one-third full, Ōnamazu can thrash hard enough to sink boats and becomes invulnerable for a moment. When the bar is full, thrashing will ring nearby bells.
\nTo finish the level, you must ring all the temple bells to warn people about the upcoming earthquake.
\nI ran out of time, so there is no sound and only four levels are available.

\nGameplay, especially controls, could be better. Game requires precision from you, but give very clanky controls. Maybe some other control scheme, such as mouse-to-point direction, or car controls (i.e. A/d to turn left/right) would work better.
\nIn-game tip about the trashing and bells thing would be bgreat too. I have missed it until read the game description.

I do think the hitbox on the little fish should maybe be a bit bigger, it felt a little frustrating at times when from the way it looked, I should have eaten them, but maybe i was off by a pixel or something?
\nStill, cool game and amazing art, and the fish physics area really cool as well.

\nFor the controls: Instead of WASD, you suggest using clockwise/counterclockwise rotation via W/A keys. I think it would have worked better.

I really liked movement of the catfish. I found it was a little tough to eat the fish at times when I thought I was about to eat them but I missed, maybe the collision detection is too narrow or too precise.

The controls were novel and complex enough that they required some mastering and were rewarding when one understood the concepts of handling direction and building up speed through repeated movements. The game is punishing but fair. The art was great and the theme was great too.

The controls took a bit of time to get used to, but after that it was fun!

\nThe controls felt good. A little bit difficult to control, but felt appropriate for a huge catfish.
\nOne nitpick– I thought the game was broken at first, because clicking the start button didn’t do anything, haha. Gotta press space. Very minor point, but a PSA for anyone else who was confused (probably just me)

\nThe fish animations are very good, the Japanese aesthetic works well
\nWhen I came back after playing it gave me the option to watch the intro again, which was nice, but after watching it the default option was to watch the intro again rather than play, perhaps a minor change
\nI can see what you mean about adding sound, it would elevate the experience

Loved the japanese style, and the rendering of the fish is amazing.\nHard to imagine how did you manage to add so much content in 13KBs.
\nMy only comment is that in the menu it is hard to know which option is selected and I was selecting Intro several times because I though the selected one was the other option.
\nAnd for improvements, I feel the background is very static, some water splashes would make it more alive.
\nGreate work!

I immediatly went looking at the repo to find out how you did the noise ahah, kudos to you. Very fluid animations and gameplay. Controls got me confused a few times ’cause I default to tank controls for some reason–I guess partly due to the large steering angle. Congratulations on your entry

\nMaybe its only me, but i would like that the controls would not be the 8 directions of WASD but rather be W/S for forward and backward(or slow down), and A/S beeing turn left/right.That would allow 360 degrees of freedom ;-)
\nNontheless: great game!

The art is awesome, especially the title screen - graphics there are just mind-blowing! If there’s one thing: maybe more variety in obstacles or levels would make it even more replayable.

\nReally liked how the attacks are telegraphed as well and the variety of obstacles / projectiles, very well implemented.
\nI couldn’t really get used to the controls though, I think the “tank” style movement would be a better fit here (so only left / right rotation relative to the direction you’re facing).
\nI think four levels were plenty here but some matching soundtrack would’ve been a great addition.
\nGreat work with the game, very addictive!

\nIn addition to this the illustrations in the introduction story were beautifully done, as were the graphics in the game play. The movements were incredibly smooth like butter and perfect for a catfish.
\nOne thing I would maybe try perfect is the controls of the movements. This would really elevate the game.
\nNice one!

The graphics and art style are absolutely beautiful. The procedural animations and shape-shifting effects are incredibly cool! Also, really interesting project build pipeline and SVG tools.
\nIn terms of controls, I think it would feel more intuitive to move forward and turn, rather than moving along two axes.

\nWhen I started playing, I thought the gameplay would be similar to slither.io, where Ōnamazu grows bigger with each fish it eats, becoming slower and more vulnerable, but with increased attack power and reduced damage taken but it would have been different gameplay.
\nReally clean graphics and well-made overall. I had a great time playing it.
