Escape from a looping nightmare staying at a haunted hotel

\n

Story

\n

You checked into the 17th floor of Hotel-13.
\nYou noticed that 17/F is actually 13/F if they haven’t skipped 4/F, 7/F, 13/F, 14/F,
\nso you couldn’t sleep the whole night.

\n

You finally slept, but can you wake up from the nightmare?

\n

Collect clues and deduce the actual 13/F, and/or the skipped floor numbers!

\n

Controls

\n\n

(Managed to not use road roller, at the cost of no bgm)

Interesting concept, but I didn’t really understand how the game works.

Nice job

I think there needs to be more cues on what to do and how to “collect clues.” I have no idea what I’m doing except avoid the black shadow of my character.

\n

The game looks very nice though. I like the pixel art and side scrolling art of the hotel.

I liked the animations and graphics overall, the play window was a bit small on screen.

\n

In your screenshot some of the numbers at the bottom are coloured, but when I clicked in the game they all were white. What was the significance of this and why would I want to change colours - was it to note the existence of floors and rooms then to rule them out?

\n

No matter which exit I went in on any level it always said I was wrong, then rather than let me continue my hunt it restarted and randomised the hotel so all my progress was lost.

\n

The death falling animation and sound effects were good.

Good job on the submission.

\n

I couldn’t figure out what to do though. I clicked the room numbers, but I wasn’t sure what that did for me. I couldn’t figure out what I needed to do or how the clues related to figure out the true 13/F.

I like the dynamic animation of the player and I was scared to be reached by the enemy :). I guess the concept is interesting, but I have to admit I did not really understand what I was supposed to do with the numbers. Maybe you could start the game with a kind of tutorial level in order to help the player? Anyway, good job !

So you have to escape from a nightmare-ish looping haunted hotel, by finding the ‘true’ 13th floor and leaving via its exit. Right. Sounds easy in principal. Turns out, it’s a little less so. As you run across the hallways you’ll see doors. Some have numbers over them. You can click those and they’ll get noted down in your ‘note area’ below. You can click those to change their color, so you can start to figure out “Right, on what the hotel claims is floor 10, I saw doors 11+12” and then ride the elevator to another floor to start deducing the layout of that one as well. All why trying to avoid a gloriously animated ‘shadow’ that chases you and ends the game if it hits you. I’ll be honest, I tried and tried, noted and joted (and died and died) and never once managed it. I enjoyed the lovely animation in the process at least!

A haunted hotel game. I get that buildings and elevators avoid the number 13, and I appreciate the elevator usage for that reason, but I didn’t feel the theme integrated enough. I gave this game a fair swing but couldn’t really figure out the goal or how to win. However it has a nice aesthetic and the animations were especially cool. Good job!

Vey clean presentation, loved the art style.\nThe gameplay was strange, it took me a while to get the idea.\nI loved the setting.

I actually really enjoyed this, what a fun little thing you’ve created with this claiming of numbers.
