In the dimming embrace of twilight, you wander through the shadowed woods, a young apothecary driven by a quiet desperation. The light fades faster than your hopes, casting long, mournful shadows over the earth. The leaves whisper secrets of the night as you search, your hands trembling as they sift through the undergrowth, seeking the elusive plants and fungi that may hold the cure. Time is slipping away, as relentless as the fever burning within your small, distant home. You know the night is closing in, and with it, the chance to save a life.
\nMiles to mend is a simple puzzle game where the goal is to find all mushrooms and flowers correctly over 10 levels without getting 13 incorrect answers.
\nWorks on mobile but is not optimized for mobile.

I did it in a different way that still worked and I got it wrong. So I think this game has a lot of potential for a nice style of game. I liked the flower and mushroom, so it makes you think later on. Great work!

\nFun twist to see that both type shared the same board
\nMore difficult when the grid size increases.

\nJust one thing: It would be nice if I didn’t have to click on all border numbers to end a level, just one button for all would suit me better.

There’s a very satisfying logic and algorithmic clarity to the game. Nice job!

Was looking for a button to submit the fully solved level. On the other hand submitting it line by line was more satisfying.
\nMaybe a better approach for UI could be to do calculations for player, green-highlighting border numbers when you have the correct number of items checked on the line (not necessarily in the right spot). And indicate when you place items breaking the rules, along with the message explaining the reason.\nThen it would be easy for player to figure out the rules by playing, without rereading the text rules.
\nLevels are a but too easy because of the mushroom spam. With verey few exceptions, muchrooms where simply on the every cell where muchrooms could be. Flowers were a bit trickier, but there were never that much of them to make things difficult.

\nGraphics are really nice, though I would personally prefer the trees/flowers/mushrooms not to be pixelated.
\nControls could be improved by allowing to mark a field as empty (if that’s possible I at least didn’t figure out how)
\nI enjoyed playing it :-)

Personally I prefer the gameplay to be intuitive instead of requiring reading many rules about the game. But it works great and is easy to play. Nice job!

\nControls are ok, yet it is not entirely clear which one of flowers or mushrooms are currently selected, and I don’t see the point of having to validate manually rows and columns.

Thanks for your submission to js13k!\nI’m sure you’ve worked hard on your game, but I’m not aware of how much time you spent on it, so excuse me if things I mention were in your mind, but got left out in the rush of the month or just because you hit the 13kb limit :)
\nGreat work on having a complete working game for js13k!
\nAt first, I saw long rules, tried to quickly parse it, started game “I will figure as I will go”… and then restarted game to read rules. :P After I got it thought, it was quite straightforward, so I guess there’s just an initial barrier, not necessarily hard to play.
\nI found it challenging to fill up the flowers, but also had some contradictions while I placed a flower in a place it was proper, but the game marked it as wrong. The mushrooms were quite straightforward and I didn’t need to think much about it, I saw trees and added mushrooms.
\nThe improvement I see is to improve the completion of the levels. At some point I had a missclick and closed one of the columns with one mistake, but also I hadn’t put any of the mushrooms required in the rows. I was left with many wrong rows on the mushrooms because of that, but I could still finish without having any more errors by picking the columns. Maybe it was intentional that I could choose which strategy to follow (rows or columns), but it didn’t feel like it.
