The spirit cat, protector of the valley and guardian of Meow Mountain, took a slightly too long nap. In that time, the\nvalley fell into disarray - the protective barrier keeping evil spirits at bay has collapsed, and the weary villagers\nhave stopped worshiping their feline protector. Can you restore peace to Whisker’s Valley?
\nfinished it on 2nd attempt, cz of the hidden one was overseen in first run :p took me 5 minutes to complete and I’ve killed maybe 2 or 3 spirits. the story line and chat is very fitting pixel art is very well maintained for a 13kb game, having objectives is a nice touch and the map is designed perfctly as a flow start to end, if u time all alters order u only need to run it once and return to power the barrier after restoring all the alters. best of luck in your future of making games good job.

Secret elements are at the right dose just a classic top down adventure with solid art and design with no fancy shenanigans. \nThe mobs were a little easy to skip.

I enjoyed playing it and it looked great too. The sound effects were good, “Bolero” seems like an odd choice for the music however. Bolero was chosen because I want a song that could progressively get more complex as the game goes, like Bolero does. In this version, at first there’s only some base, then the melody starts after the initial dialogs. I didn’t have time for more, but I wanted to introduce more music instruments each time the player repaired a statue. So the music with have a crescendo and increase of intensity as the game goes. Sadly, I didn’t have time or space left for that.

I love how it smoothly zooms out when you start, and the tree sprites had a lovely shiny rounded look that I appreciated. The minimap looks so cool, I love how it progressively reveals the world as you explore, just like a good rpg game. The music did not fit the game at all, and the bass notes are not in tune with the melody, so I think the music does the game a disservice. But that is very minor, and to have included music in an already big and complex game - all in under 13kb total, is a real technical achievement and worthy of kudos nonetheless. Fantastic work.

Yes, that’s it. There is a final dialog, but most people accidentally pass it because they are spamming the space key :’) I’m working on a more satisfying ending for the director’s cut right now.

\nOne gripe: It looks like you started to support gamepads but stopped partway. In controls.ts, you’re reading axes[0] and axes[1], cool, but nothing from gamepad is mapped to the action controls. When a game supports keyboard only, it’s no problem, I can have my gamepad pretend to be a keyboard. But when it’s partial like that, alas, no luck :(

The way I made a “big” map is simply that all paths are a handful of straight lines, plus a few circles, and the rest if full of trees, with a little randomness. Same for the villages. \nI love the colour palette you chose, the animations are very well rendered and the music really rounds out the mood! The protagonist cat is super cute and the story is sweet.
\nI also enjoyed that the game emphasises a nonviolent approach and you don’t really need to fight the spirits.
\nI encountered one bug though: at first I was careless enough to get myself killed but restarting the game seems to not reset everything correctly, so any damage would instantly kill me from that point on and the quest markers also kept piling up. Really not a big deal, just needs to reload the page when it happens.
\nThe game is a bit short but that’s understandable due to the size limit.
