In the long span of 100 years, living in the 12th century, a turtle witnesses the contemporary knights braving thorns and obstacles. Playing the role of a turtle, we must guide the knights to a safe path, avoiding monster attacks, and ensure a peaceful journey throughout these 100 years.

Unlike RPGs, this is a rhythm game. Your path is determined by the score you achieve.

Press the crosshair in sync with the musical notes’ beats to earn corresponding scores.

The musical notes have left and right distinctions.

I’ve always wanted to make a rhythm based game! This is beautiful and well done. I’d recommend - a consistent drum beat or high-hat metronome would be helpful to keep the rhythm and allow the “hit area” for hitting the correct key to be a little smaller.

\n

Really fun. It made me want to play a few times. Well done.

I also got console errors on load, although refreshing the page seemed to resolve it and I was able to play.

\n

Because the score was so integral to the path it would have been really nice to have it much closer to the crosshair/rhythm path so I didn’t have to take my eyes off it to know how I was doing.

\n

It also felt like there wasn’t a whole lot of sync between the music and hitting the notes, but visually it was pretty clear.

Pretty soon after starting the game, I get the following error: Uncaught DOMException: Failed to execute ‘drawImage’ on ‘CanvasRenderingContext2D’: The HTMLImageElement provided is in the ‘broken’ state.

This happens on every browser that I have tried (Firefox & Edge on Linux). However, refreshing the window (twice) seems to fix the issue.

Worked for me, made it through several paths before failing. I think the socring to select route was a bit over complicated.

\n

Nice graphics and good to have a music track, with this genre I think the music is key though, didnt feel like I was playing to the beat.

\n

Good effort at a difficult genre!

Try as I might, I just couldn’t get this game to work :( The menu starts, the graphics look great and then the first level crashes with a canvas drawImage error. I tried different browsers, refreshed the page, cleared cache etc but no joy sadly. Which is a real shame, as graphically it looked awesome from what I could see!

The music plays, but the game doesn’t seem to respond to controls.

It’s cool that you’ve made a custom pixel font!

Hey there!

\n

It feels like a really good idea at the start, rhythm games are really one of my favourites. The design and the music gives a good atmosphere.\nHowever, the tutorial lasts only 2 seconds and you really don’t have time to read what to do.\nSo I restarted a few times to try and understand what to do but half of the time, the game hangs at the beginning and the gameplay does not start.

\n

A bit disappointing as it’s a great idea, you should probably have had it tested by some friends to get their feedback!

Rhythm games really live or die by the music. There really wasn’t a good beat to follow and noted seemed almost randomly placed and to have nothing to do with the music. It was really awkward to judge the arrows too, especially the “special all the directions marked or whatever” ones.

\n

But on the other hand it was boringly easy. Just two different buttons on a slowish pace isn’t really demanding when the “nice” window is so huge that you can basically play it to any song really.

\n

Nice pixel art. The font made it kinda tough to judge the numbers at some points. And the route score stopped working for me at some point too and after going few more levels blind and it not picking up again, I decided to quit.

\n

After couple of levels, you stop seeing all the route options which isn’t fun. And I’m pretty sure quite a few from the last ones are even completely impossible to achieve. And it’s not really great design when the best strategy is to quickly scan the routes for first heart and just go for that score and then watch the paint dry for a minute not doing anything.

Music need to be more sync with the actions.\nIt felt a little bit repetitive.

A really innovative idea combining a RPG with a rythm game. I also really liked the graphics! I still think the idea needs some tweaking to make the game really good, but it is a good start. Here is some feedback which hopefully helps:

Anyway a really cool entry and a good starting point for a innovative and fun game! Congratulations.

Hello! Thanks for your submission to js13k!\nI’m sure you’ve worked hard on your game, but I’m not aware of how much time you spent on it, so excuse me if things I mention were in your mind, but got left out in the rush of the month or just because you hit the 13kb limit :)
