King Godric XIII, called the Crimson Hand, the Withering Flame, the dreaded King Thirteen rose from his throne.
\nThe whispers of his subjects had grown too loud, too bold. They had forgotten their place.
\n— Silence!
\nClad in blood-red armor, Godric towered over them, an enormous and imposing figure.
\n— I am fear incarnate! — his roar echoed through the hall. — You will bow before me, or you will burn!
\nSoon after, swords were drawn, and scarlet splattered the floor.
\nHow to play:
\nDecentralized: Arcadia Challenge, OP Guild Challenge.
\nIf there is no sound, try allowing autoplay in your browser settings.

I didn’t realize the knight and the bishop could combine if they shared the same number. Also don’t know why the King captured one of my pieces when normally he was standing still or moving around.
\nOther than not understanding the rules completely, the game is pretty interesting. I’m not very good at advanced chess move thinking, so it was difficult for me to score well since I failed to line up the knights to upgrade them. Can easily see how people would love the game.

\ncame back after second match, looks like the 1024 killes the king and win the game. wanted to go for more but I think I would not have lasted much after that lol. nice nice btw my score is 5467 let me know if someone beat it.
\nedit 2 : also seems that you can make a strategy to win, especially after the queens get spawning.

\nKing resorts to violence only when he is cornered and has nowhere else to go. It’s below him to kill commoners otherwise.
\nHowever if you might lose due to the board being full, then the King won’t help you by clearing the board; he’ll just stand there.
\nI see how this all can be a bit confusing but yeah, he’s nonlinear like that, an agent of chaos.

\nVery cool how the new units (rooks, queens) gradually appear.
\nLots of strategy, especially in the beginning, deciding how many bishops/knights you want to keep.
\nNot too much to improve? Sometimes when trying to “unselect” a selected unit, I would accidentally move it (that might be a “me” problem, not a UI problem… and you also have an undo button, so this is kind of a non-issue).

However, I almost missed this gem. Here’s my story:
\nThe first time I launched it, I completely misunderstood how to play. The description has nice flavor text, but I doesn’t explain the gist of the gameplay!
\nI decided to come back after a few days and give it another go. Am I glad I did! It was after skimming through your post mortem that I noticed the mention of 2048 and had an a-ha! moment.
\nI managed to beat the game on my second attempt, scoring 5,332 points. I’m sure I made a lot useless moves.. Once I got to 1,024 I’m glad that the number turned red—it was enough to suggest that it was king slaying time :) Without this small indication I would have likely continued to 2048. Some other notes:
\nOverall, this is a a very polished experience, with great audio and very pretty design. I commend the attention to detail, like the lower-left square being dark. Awesome job!

I just played for SOOOOOO long! I adore the graphics; simple yet very elegant, with nice shine and shadow - all the sprites are really nice to look at. the strategies, the slow way newer pieces appear on the battlefield, and the familiar mix of two cool things is a HIT!!! I felt a bit lost at times when suddenly something would happen seemingly randomly and I had no idea what it did. that’s on me for not quite getting the red stripes evolution stages or reasons a bishop appears exactly… could some sort of explanatory helper tooltips or mouse-hover info help me know for sure what would happen if I made a move? I’d love that. I suppose I should have used UNDO to preview moves, but that never occurred to me (feels almost like cheating). The only other thing I did not love was the sound - I wish it was all more soft and chill and zen. In any case, this game is phenomenal, the ideal touchscreen game you could play for a thousand hours. wonderful work.

The use of warm colors creates a cozy, vintage atmosphere, which works great for a game centered around a medieval king. The stylized chess pieces are distinct and immediately recognizable, making it easy for players to grasp the mechanics visually.\nWhile the overall design is effective, it might benefit from a bit more visual feedback during gameplay. Adding animations or subtle effects when merging pieces or achieving specific game goals would enhance the player’s sense of progression.\nThe artwork is well-executed, and the chess theme is perfectly integrated into the game. The simple yet elegant design makes it easy to focus on the strategy aspect while maintaining a pleasant visual experience.
