\n

Troubleshooting

\n

This game is mostly framerate-independent… but if you’re having issues making jumps, try changing your display refresh rate to 60 Hz. Also, while it’s been verified to run on the latest Firefox and Chrome, it might cause issues with some drivers.

\n

Interesting technical details

\n

The legs are drawn using inverse kinematics techniques (specifically, the easy two-segment case) and automatically adapt to the terrain.

\n

Secret areas

\n

Two. They’re not particularly hidden, but they’re easy to miss if you’re moving quickly.

Interesting game, the legs are very cool, the hurt sound is quite sad, I did try not to hurt the little guy too much!

This was a lot of fun to play. You’ve really struck a distinctive look, and with such simple ingredients.

The aesthetics immediately jumped out from the thumbnail and did not disappoint. Great job on the legs!

The smooth animations really sell this game. It feels great to control. I really like the dark but fun aesthetic. Really nice game.

Really fun to explore the caves.

\n

The water worked well, I wanted to dive down but couldn’t figure out if I could.

\n

Getting the double jump made things a bit easier.

\n

I love the look and feel of this game, the movement feels quite lifelike, not one for those scared of spiders.

\n

Some sections had brutal spikes and the leap of faith was tough when the health bar was small. I couldn’t get up the tower.

\n

Overall a great entry, I’ll play this lots more

Cute platformer! I got stuck, impaled on a screen where the fangs run from top to ceiling, left to right.

Cool game, great art work, the leg technology is pretty amazing, really curious how you did that. If you write a post-mortem explaining some of the tech I’d love to see it. Only two complaints really:

\n
    \n
  1. You should account for different refresh rates in your code. High Hz screens are very common, and I shouldn’t have to go change my screen to play your game. It’s really easy to lock the frame rate in your game code.
  2. \n
  3. This game would be great with controller support! Having to move sideways and effectively press “up” to jump is not ideal. Having a jump button would be nicer.
  4. \n
\n

You have room to do both of these thing, and those features would definitely make me stick with the game more. I still think the game is amazing, those two things though would make it a lot nicer imo!

Really nice game. Was fun to play and explore. Very nice graphics style and the platforming was fun.

\n

There were a lot of times where I couldn’t see what was below the screen but needed to fall, and would end up falling into spikes. Would be nice if you could see further down before making a jump. Also I got trapped in the tower by falling down either side which I couldn’t get out of, so ended up dying.

When I first saw the screenshot I wasn’t expecting such a fun game! Figuring out how to pass the lake was challenging.

I spotted the king but couldn’t finish the game just yet. But I will try again later!

I wasn’t sure about the theme connection, but after checking the source, I got spoilers :)

I love the sequence with the spikes coming out of the ground as you run past, very nicely done!

I’m not into platformers with double jump, but this one was so fun I had to learn and improve on that aspect. There were some very clever mechanics (not telling which one to avoid spoilers). Found a few hidden dead-end rooms, good that there was always a checkpoint around. Jump sound became a bit repetitive and I missed some foot step sounds, but other than that - excellent!

Legs animation is really cool. I loved the game, but even if I’m familiar with platformers and metroid like, it’s sometime tricky to double jump at a perfect frame.

That was really cool! I liked how there was some exploration with secret areas and it didn’t feel completely linear. The art style worked well here and seemed to allow a lot of content to fit in though it would be nice to see a bit more variety. Legs animation gave it a unique vibe. It felt very playable and I wanted see everything. Great work!

The leg animations and inverse kinematics are well made. I sometimes get stuck in the platforms, but it’s not an issue since I can get out.

Ohh, this has heavy Flash-era vibes! You’re a mere two-legged creature that has to work their way around the frankly terrifying landscape. Your legs stick to the world in a strangely satisfying and spidery manner thanks to the nice IK implementation. As you go, you’ll encounter other characters like you (except with more legs!) that will give you advice. You’ll also find plinths that give you a piece of the story along with a much-needed health pip. The transition as you gain this is wonderful. There are also lamp posts you can light, which form as checkpoints.

\n

And then there is the landscape itself. There are plenty of ‘platformer’ puzzles to solve here. From gaining the double-jump, to figuring out how to plunge deep enough in the water to swim under the rocks, to getting through the nightmare-ish forest of spikes.

\n

The graphics are simple but effective, the gameplay downright addictive and the whole vibe borders on the freakish in a distinctly unsettling way. Excellent work.

This reminds me of Daddy Long Legs. Overall, it’s a fun platformer that plays smoothly. At the start, I wasn’t really sure how many times I could die. An animation would help. Besides that, excellent job! The thin legs are sparking joy from the start.
