🔥👑 Infernal Throne 👑🔥 is a mini Metroidvania compressed into 13kb.
\nYour seat on the Infernal Throne has been overruled. The Demon King has banished you to the depths of Hell and stripped you of your infernal Aspects. Navigate the Underworld and its dangers while searching for a way to regain your strength. The Throne awaits you…

\nI really liked “Hollow Knight”, so I could also enjoy this mini version. : )\nOverall a great game. The mini map was also helpful.\nI only found the controls to be a bit tricky \u0013 pressing the correct non-arrow key for what I wanted to do in that moment. Gamepad support would have been nice. But I made it to the end (after multiple deaths), so it wasn’t that much of an issue.

I love the procedural physic-y animations like the web wobbling when you hit it. this game has everything! coyote time, upgrades, levers, cool puzzles and amazing graphics. fantastic work.

As others have said, the controls were the downfall here for me. Yes gamepad support would have been ideal, but even without it, don’t make me do more than move with my left hand. It would be nice if…something….could be done with my right hand, like attack, use aspects, show map.
\nThe other problem was that attacking moves you forward. I pressed attack not move, don’t move me. I fell off ledges due to this.
\nUpdate those things and I’d really love to go back to this game and give it another shot. I made it quite far but gave up before the end due to the controls.

\nI enjoyed navigating the game and avoiding the obstacles. Kept surprising myself with how far and high the character could jump.
\nI wasn’t sure why I was collecting bones from slain enemies?
\nThe animations were good, well presented overall.
\nI’ll have to come back and play this more.

I think I never played a js13k game for so long, and I enjoyed every minute. The way you can combine the skills is so cool. It feels very natural after a while. And the level design is very well made. Fantastic job!\nSome improvement ideas: I sometimes wanted to restore the lives, and it would be nice if I could do it in the checkpoints for example, and the map could be a bit bigger.

The animations are really great, the graphics and aesthetics fit well together, and the controls are good. I’m able to use my left hand for combat since all buttons are accessible with my left hand, and I can move with my right hand.
\nI will star the repository and steal some of the techniques you did to make those smooth animations and vector graphics for next years jam. It’s all really beautiful.
\nThe sound effects are nice. It’s satisfying to scratch, and it’s satisfying to pick up bones (are they 3D? Can’t tell, but looks cool.) The sounds match the actions. The only problem I have is with the music. It doesn’t sound that well (sometimes feel off key,) and is all over the place. I think you’re going for a creepy vibe, but I’d suggest not jumping the notes as far away apart as you do. Make some chords and only move one or two notes half a step or one step. That will prevent the music from jumping and moving too much. I think that will make the music sound better, and still have that idle creepy vibe in the background (Listen to Stickerbrush Symphony as an example.)
\nOther than that, everything is working well for me. Great job.

I have “search as you type” enabled in my browser, so every time I press a key it brings up the search. You should call .preventDefault() for all keyboard events to prevent this.
I like the graphics (well done, the “line-art”), the animations, the level-design, the huge map (and the minimap!)
\nMostly i fell into lava while trying to jump but pressed the wrong button. Maybe [Space] and/or [ArrowUp] would be better for jumping. But that’s probably just personal preference. Nothing to complain about :P
\nVery well done!

If you play only one js13k entry this year, make sure it is this one.
\nTaking on the role of a cute vector-drawn devil you have to navigate the Underworld in an attempt to regain your Infernal Aspects. This plays out like a top-tier platformer (think Hollow Knight) as you run and jump across the level, smashing open chests and destroying skeletons to collect the beautifully physics-enabled bones that shatter from their bodies.
\nAs you progress, you’ll eventually find Aspects, such as dashing and wall-climbing, which allow you into parts of the map that were previously beyond your abilities. The combination of all of these traits feels perfectly natural, and you’ll soon be wall climbing and dashing from side to side, trying to avoid the freakishly animated spiders or lava pits.
\nGraphical it’s a tour-de-force of what’s possible in 13k, not so much the design, as great as that is, but mostly thanks to the life that has been breathed into it due to the quality of the animations. Everything just feels alive, which is quite an achievement for a game set in the afterlife :)
\nThe only two things I would have liked are the ability to see the locked gates on the mini-map and gamepad support - as it was often quite easy to hit the wrong key, especially once you had all Aspects, in the heat of the moment. However, I’m sure this was a struggle to fit into 13k as it was!
\nI don’t know if this will win, that is up to the public votes, but I really hope it ranks highly as it’s a master class of game design, never mind concise JavaScript.

It was a bit infuriating that I went to the throne when I was still at 33/34 chests.\nThe animations are so fluid. You clearly paid a lot of attention to the details, like the movement of his tail.\nThis really feels like a metroid game and the power ups are really interesting.\nLove the music and sound effects.\nI wish I was able to press [down] to look down. I sometimes died because I didn’t know what was below.\nI didn’t understand what the bones were meant for, did they have any use or just for stats?
