Game Setting

\n

Set in Scotland in 1276. You are real person that existed at the time. You travel to castles that existed in the 13th century on real and plausible path that will take you to battle King Alexander III where he lives.

\n

Audio

\n

Atmospheric sounds. Effects that are near one side of the screen are louder on that speaker. Works on phones too if you have headphones. Two 13th century songs. One 18th century song written in Scotland. One song written by me for this game.

A bit of a slow burn to get going, I found it confusing at first but ultimately it is very playable and entertaining. The presentation is great, with some different style to it and I really appreciated the music. Good stuff.

I liked the mechanic of discarding one unit - but I feel it didn’t provide enough incentives (specially when you don’t get much choice in getting new units - I just grabbed everybody all the time; I always discarded the “weakest” of them).

\n

I wish there were better alternatives for protecting yourself - in upper level castles (I made it to level 6), even with a lot of imps on your side to bump up your shield, you still receive massive damage and die.

What a great time! The music is excellent, the background research is impeccably so far past the average bar, it’s unreal.

\n

The graphics were OK, loved all the animations. Palette was a little garish though, it didn’t really convey the tone your music and research set up.

\n

Enjoyed all the comedy. The priest’s dialog was great :)

\n

The gameplay was alright. Honestly wasn’t sure what I was doing even on the second playthrough, so that was a bit of a letdown. Probably need a mini manual out here in the description to get the most out of it.

Thanks I’m glad someone noticed the amount of research I did in a seemingly nonsense game! I went through the massive list of castles in Scotland to find the ones that existed that year and mapped out a path to where the king’s castle was at the time. My art on the Goblin Hall is based on real photos. When Alexander III talks I included a quote from a real medieval poem written about Hugo. When you defeat him you take the crown from the Stone of Scone. The priest sometimes says a quote from an actual incantation used to remove demons. The Redcap goblin was a famous one who’s said to have a red cap from soaking it in the blood of his victims so I made his hat get brighter read each time he deals the final blow. The kelpie’s special ability to a pull a goblin to the grave pile is from medieval stories of kelpies pulling people in to drown them. And of course the music. Was a let down to see that my game only got 0.67 more on “theme” a game that has nothing to do with the 13th century, just “castle” in its name.

Looks and sounds very good. Gameplay was a bit confusing, I wasn’t sure how much I was affecting the results of the game apart from dragging goblins right. Might benefit a lot from some instructions

Thanks ya I should have added more instructions. Your actions matter a lot because I beat the game nearly every time I try, while nobody else has ever, as far as I know. I’ll put some here because I don’t think I can edit. Drag left for special. When no cannon is coming, drag Grogs left for +1 defense on yourself for the rest of the battle. If a Redcap deals the final blow it gets +2 strength permanently. Get rid of Torchers if you have no fire. Otherwise always get rid of Stabbies. Save your Clones for an upgraded Redcap or for a Kelpie or a Caller.

Works well, cute graphics and playable / humourous.

\n

Was not sure if my deciding on attack or extra defence was having much impact on the battles, felt I was always headed toward defeat.

\n

Well made and some fun.

One of the standouts. I’m terrible at deck-builders but really liked this one. Some text instructions in the description would have really helped the learning curve, but once you get it, it is a lot of fun.

Really unique game with goofy graphics and quite creative and fitting songs. I like the speech sound effects. The game seems bit repetitive after a while and I didn’t understand if there’s some sort of strategy I should follow. I just kept swiping my units at the towers because I had so many units, and little control over which units to send to the front. Overall good job.

The problem with this game is that it is too easy. Alternatively it takes too long time to get hard. It’s a shame since everyting is so polished! Sound, graphics and controls are all fantastic.

The game had a lot of humor to it, I can tell you had fun making it. Good ol’ reliable stabbie. Expecto Patronum!!
