“You are having the same dream again… the dream where everyone must die…”

\n
\n

Dying Dreams is a puzzle game where you have to kill all the… uh, “figures” on the screen. The difficulty is that you control all of them at the same time!

\n

The game contains 13 puzzles, most of them not too hard (except maybe the puzzles in the end).

Notes on audio: audio should work on both Firefox and Chromium-based browsers, but since Firefox does not support one function, audio sounds better in Chromium.

I’d find MIDI covers of tracks from “Kill’em all” appropriate, somehow~

\n

That aside - a fantastic entry, with great attention to detail and fluidity not just in terms of animations, but gameplay progression overall.

\n

Somehow reminded me of Lemmings, even though the differences are obvious. Still, I’m a sentimental person, so well done on evoking my childhood’s dying dreams of saving them all.

Loved this game, made me think about “Total party kill” :)

\n

Nice graphics and control, perfect level design with progressive difficulty\njust a negative point with fx which is not really smooth

Nice puzzles, I was able to solve the puzzles until stage 11. I’ll probably try again later.

Really like the concept of characters destinies being intertwined. The graphics are nice, I’m always a big fan of pixel art. I liked the music and sound effects too. The puzzles were good and required some lateral thinking.

Graphics are just phenomenal, great job!

\n

I’m not into puzzle games but I can appreciate the attention that went into this one.

\n

Sound effects are pretty good but I think it could have used a cute soundtrack instead.

I really liked this game! Congratulations! It’s really hard to not fit in the “body platformer” game with this theme and you managed to do something really good! Congratulations again!

I played this during play testing and loved it, still just as good of course. Everything is so well thought out and polished, the puzzles, the graphics, even the aspect ratio, which reminds me of like gameboy or snes. Very well done.

OMG everything is animated, included the intro screens!!!\nDefinitively one of the entries I’ll study the source code of!\nI would love a counter indicating what puzzle I’m currently on (out of 13)

This is a perfect little game, the graphics, the polish, the sounds, everything! I especially love the wobbly background and the snowflakes, they add an extra layer to the style.

Everyone around you is dead.\nohno

\n
\n

Thanks for this game! I loved the 8th puzzle and it’s AHA moment :) It was great that you put together a complete game, really well polished, with a lot of expected features of puzzle games, all under a month and under 13kb!

\n

I think the only thing I would consider here is the theme. The sound effects and the dream theme felt a bit disconnected from the puzzle game. When the game was over it was when the vignette was telling me about the dreams and that I reminded myself of the text in the beginning. I’m not saying it’s an easy, but I’d start looking into a bit more fitting theme to it if I’d make it a larger game.

\n

Thanks once again!

Pro: Great graphics and a lot of fun\nContra: The only real contra point might be the music, since there are only some sound effects. However, I must say it is difficult to find anything bad

Cute puzzle game and I love the aesthetic! Great difficulty progression, it was a pleasure to play. The dreamy visuals are itching for some music to accompany them though!

Truly interesting puzzle design, intuitive and progressive stages, with details like the animations and shadows, it makes me dive into the game immediately.\nThe atmosphere is also there, I especially liked the moving stars and snow particles.

Brilliant puzzle design. You packed in so many layers of puzzle solving with such constraints. I also love that you have established the “Jani Nykänen” pixel art style of js13k entries, which is beautiful and distinct. Fantastic job!

It is incredible the level of polish in this game, from the loading screen, the graphics, fx, gameplay… It’s super fun to play, very tricky puzzles.\nI saw also the “HD” version of the game, but even so I still prefer this graphics.\nVery good job!
