Your teleporter’s power is depleted, and you’re stranded in the 13th dimension, courtesy of the 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌. To escape, you must retrieve all 7 power gems. But beware—your greatest 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐑 is dying of hypothermia if your temperature drops below -𝟏𝟑°C. Retreat to the teleporter or find a campfire to 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐔𝐏 before it’s too late.

\n

Controls:

\n

WASD: Move around the map\nClick: Attack\nShift: Run\nController Support: Left stick to move, right stick to look, and shoulder buttons to sprint or attack\nNote:

\n

𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: This game is GPU-intensive, and animations may lag on low-end devices. Press Ctrl + Plus or Ctrl + Minus to rescale and reload if needed. Also, an adult-sized diaper is recommended—there’s a high chance you’ll wet yourself while playing.

\n

Age Rating: 13+ (so I can play it)

\n

Good Luck: Which, honestly, you won’t need, because you’re gonna die anyway. 😈

\n

How It Fits the Theme:

\n

Surviving in the 13th dimension isn’t just about collecting gems—it’s about keeping your suit’s temperature above -13°C. The 13th dimension is full of unlucky surprises (you’ll see).

\n

BTW, check out my YouTube channel and my other projects on Itch.io. I’m Andrei, a 13-year-old developer, even IDK when I started gamedev exactly. This is my third time at JS13k, and I’m here to learn and make cool games!

\n

I’m gonna submit it on Arcadia, that’s why I put it on the Decentralized category. Hopefully they accept it :)

\n

Feedback and constructive criticism are welcome—be honest and have fun. ✌️

Love the art style! The idea isn’t bad as well, however a few things made the experience pretty frustrating and I gave up after a few attempts.

\n

You rightly say you’re gonna die a lot. With that in mind….don’t put a 45 second text to speech intro in the game…it’s very annoying. I turn off audio immediately.

\n

The collision detection just kind of brings you to a stop, it would be better if you could slide along walls.

\n

The view distance is so short, makes it just kind of frustrating to look for the items.

\n

I still think though there’s a ton of potential here. Literally just tweak collision, increase view distance, and remove tts and this is a great game! Amazing work for a 13 year old as well!

Thanks for the feedback! I should create a polished version with this feedback, but the view distance is intentionally short to make it harder and more confusing, but it could be a bit bigger, yeah.

Difficult and sadly WASD-only controls (would be nice to have ZQSD / arrow keys too the next time), aniways, retro-pigeon once again delivers really impressive visuals in 13kb and at 13yo! Can’t wait for the youtube video showing how you did it :p

Quite difficult, those damn arachnoids! The graphics were good but a bit flickery for my old man eyes.

Thanks for the feedback, should’ve added an option for disabling that. I am a pretty avid gamer, so can’t judge the difficulty well, thanks for the feedback. And finally somebody spelled arachnoids correctly 😅

Impressive visuals, I wished I could skip the intro after dying once, I found the controls and movement experience to be too touchy, easily getting stuck on obstacles, unable to strafe around them. Found a spinny wheel thing, but your temperature timer doesn’t pause while gambling? I found the gameplay loop to be too short, should have a bit more time outside the teleporter to explore before having to go back to reheat. Gave it a few minutes but was frustrated with the controls and collision.\nAmazing effort for 13 years old! I could see this being very very fun with some gameplay and control polish.

Thanks for all of the feedback! The prize idea was stolen from mario kart, but the temperature thing needs some fine tuning. Initially you had only 13 seconds to do whatever you do, so for me the time is long, thanks for giving me a fresh perspective on my game.

I like the visual presentation (the grainy look) and the atmosphere of the gameplay.\ni played with keyboard and gamepad, the keyboard-controls are better (at least for me). I tend to get stuck on some obstacles, which is a bit annoying, but maybe (as it adds to the tension of the game) this is intended?\nAh, and my browser selects the german voice for the speech output, so the text sounds if some dutch guy translated a microwave manual written in manadrin to english, haha :-)

Thanks for the feedback! I know the TTS is kinda finnicky but it adds character. I didn’t think about adding wall sliding, I think that would fix the issues.

Unfortunately, I could not play this game. I have “search as you type” enabled in my browser, so when I try to move, instead the page search turns up. You should call .preventDefault() on all keyboard events to prevent this.

Great visuals and a very interesting entry overall. There is some solid shader work here. The blood effect when you die is a good one, and I like the environment, and the way the whole game looks. The retro sun orbiting around and all the stars in the sky are great details.\nReally reminds me of some old 3D MSDOS games (in a good way!). Extra impressive that you’re a 13 year old dev!

Chucked you a follow over on itch, keen to see what kinds of games you create in the coming years!

the graphics blow my mind!!!!!! I love the scanline/chromatic style fx that occur, almost vhs tape distortion styles. very cool. it ran smoothly on my older pc, though I kept getting stuck on things and wish the spike colliders were circular (or physics changed to reflect alongnormal) so you could wallslide around them smoothly and never get stuck while moving. but that’s just nit-picking, this entry is awesome!!! great work.

Very cool game.

\n

Well done for submitting this at 13.

\n

The graphics were excellent, and very atmospheric. Played very smoothly for me.

\n

The sound effects worked well.

\n

It was pretty easy to work out how to move, although no matter how fast I went those little spider things were always on me :)

\n

I was not very good at finding a fireplace when my temperature dropped, perhaps having a mini-map of places visited already or within a certain distance of the player would help?

The lighting effects and color palette create a strong atmospheric feel that aligns well with the game’s survival mechanics. The use of light beams cutting through the dark environment adds a sense of mystery and urgency, which is perfect for a game that deals with survival in a harsh, cold environment. The design effectively conveys the eerie, isolated atmosphere of the 13th dimension.\nThe background and environment, while atmospheric, could benefit from a bit more texture or detail to break up the otherwise flat visual feel. Some small details or environmental animations, such as snow particles or environmental debris, could enhance the immersion and make the setting feel more alive and dangerous.\nOverall, you’ve done a fantastic job in creating an environment that feels tense and immersive. The lighting effects are particularly well-executed, and they play a big role in setting the game’s mood. Great work on building a visually cohesive and suspenseful atmosphere!
