Count Dekatria’s Mansion\nWelcome to Count Dekatria’s Mansion, a thrilling strategic board game where your characters must navigate rooms, solve puzzles, and avoid being expelled by Count Dekatria! The game is based on the concept of Triskaidekaphobia—the fear of the number 13. Can you outwit the Count before it’s too late?

\n

Gameplay Overview\nIn Count Dekatria’s Mansion, you control a party of 5 characters. Each character has special abilities that will help you navigate the mansion and solve its puzzles. As you explore, you’ll face challenges tied to the unlucky number 13. Your objective is to score points by matching characters with rooms and using their abilities to overcome obstacles.

\n

However, beware! Every time a 13 is rolled, you get closer to being expelled from the mansion. If 13 is rolled 13 times, Count Dekatria will expel you, and the game will end!

How to Play

\n
    \n
  1. Selecting Your Party\nYou must select 5 characters from the Character Selection Area. Each character has a unique ability that can help you during the game. Once your party is selected, click the Start Game button to begin.
  2. \n
  3. Moving Your Characters\nRoll the dice to move your characters. Dice results range from 10 to 16, and each number corresponds to a specific room in the mansion. Drag and drop characters from the hallway into the room that matches the rolled number. Characters can only move to certain rooms based on the mansion’s layout and broken walls.
  4. \n
  5. Using Abilities\nCharacters have special abilities that can be activated when in the right room or situation. For example, Muscle Joe can break through walls, and Magnify Mark can reveal all hidden emojis in a room. Use abilities strategically to clear rooms and score points.
  6. \n
  7. Matching Emojis\nEach room contains hidden emojis that correspond to certain characters. If a character matches an emoji in a room, they score a point, and the emoji is revealed. The goal is to reveal 13 or more emojis in the mansion to open room 13 and slay Count Dekatria.

Interesting board game! I used Magnify, Muscle, Ghost, Bat, and Pumpkin. My score was 15/13. I cleared the left half of the map, but had 2 remaining slots on the right half. The drag-and-drop controls were well implemented, and always worked as I wanted. The room probabilities was a nice touch to save me from the mental math. Overall, this feels like it has potential. It’s clear that you put a lot of work into it. Great job!

Once I got to grips with the controls this was a lot of fun, got so close so many times but just could not win.

\n

Hard to remember the different character traits, leaving the tool tips active on them would have been nice, or putting the info somewhere on screen.

\n

Really well made, some music and extra graphics, sounds etc would have made it even better.

In my third attempt I scored 11/13 which is not too bad !!!\nThe rules are not simple to understand, but once you got it, the game is very interesting. The theme is well represented. I suggest you to add some sound effects and/or music to make this game even better :)

It’s nice to see a board-like game in the competition. The theme fits well with a dice-based gameplay. After several attempts I was able to finish the game!

\n

It’s good that there is a help text showing what to do next. However, there are many elements on the screen competing of the player’s attention, so it can still be at times a little difficult to figure out what to do next. I think it would be better to show things when they are relevant at each moment. For example, when selecting the characters at start, only the character selection parts could be visible (or alternatively, the other elements could be dimmed). And when the game starts, then show the dice, etc. That way, there would be less need for writing long instructions (as people usually are too impatient to read them :). On the other hand, the tooltips on characters do a good job on guiding the player when it’s relevant. So, good things here on that regard and I believe that it pays off to make things as obvious to the player as possible, on every opportunity.

\n

Also, I think another way to improve would be to make it clear right from the start what is the ultimate goal of the game (in the description text or in the game). For example: “Collect 13 emojis so that you can slay Count Dekatria”.

\n

The board layout looks good and the dice animation is a nice touch. Having the emojis and a little storyline is enough to spark imagination, so I’m not missing any fancier graphics. Good work, and with some more strategic elements it could be even better.

Interesting concept for a game. I liked that there were different abilities for each character. I never did figure out what Muscle Joe’s ability really did since it wouldn’t activate unless the door he was sitting in front of rolled, at which point he would always enter.

\n

I could never roll the numbers for the right side rooms. Seems too lucked based and there wasn’t anything I could do to improve my chances of rolling the right side numbers. Near the end of the game I was just rolling over and over again because I only needed 2 numbers, which wasn’t very fun.

it seem alot of work has been put in this game, remind me of the board game inspection and its kind of fun to plan the win

An interesting game, with lots of scope for varied play.

\n

It did feel a bit like I’d just got this new boardgame and I was trying to play it without first reading the rules. (even though I had).

\n

The concept was good, the character abilities added to the skill of putting them where they were needed, to get the ticks against the emoji.

I tried the game for a while, but i really don’t understand it.The gameplay is not only very complex, but things happen around the board without me noticing. Everything on the bard has the same vivid colors, nothing seems to be specially highlighted. There are no animations or transitions.

\n

I’m confused why it says only the muscle and the magnifying glass have working effects. If the game incomplete? Other characters seem to have some effect sometimes.

\n

I think it’s clear you put a ton of work on this game. Making board-style games is really tough, specially with the size and time restrictions. I just couldn’t understand it or have fun with it.

There’s a lot going on at the same time in this game. It was difficult to understand how to proceed, and I don’t know if what I did was good or bad. Maybe limiting the UI and elements can help better understand the gameplay.\nThe use of Emoji is clever, and I think the drag and drop functionality worked well. I’m glad there were instructions on screen, otherwise I wouldn’t know what to do.

This took me a while to figure out, although not much longer than a standard board game you’d find at a board game night. The abilities of the characters are pretty crucial to understand, it would be nice if they could be referenced after the game started. As it was, I had to have another tab open to hover over what they did to remind myself. It would also be nice if I could send characters back to their starting positions with a button after having exited the basement, but not a game breaker by any means. I did like how the dice rolled one at a time.

This feels almost like a board game! I really like the amount of depth you got in there, and do like the emoji graphics as well. With new graphics and some polish, this could be a really fun game.

Oh, this was incredibly satisfying once I’d gotten my head around how it plays. Quite a clever game that strafes close to worker-placement games in its own way.
