This game is really hard. Reminds me of those old games like I Wanna Be The Guy. I like the design.\nThe controls are hard, but it somehow feels intentional. The continuously speeding up cat can be countered with jumping often.\nI think the game should have stretched to the whole window, instead of using only a tiny portion of the screen.

It has a feel of those older very hard games. Constantly dying on the spikes reminded me of trying and failing to progress in Super Meat Boy! Despite the difficulty I played it a lot and got the hang of the controls.

\n

I got stuck a few times when there was a larger height to jump than the cat could jump so a “Restart Level” option would’ve been nice rather than going back to the very start.

Looks and sounds very cute. Gameplay is maybe a little too simple.

Cat goes boing for sure. Difficult game. But overcoming the difficulty is the fun!. Good job

Nice game, simple mechanics while still being quite challenging. The way the cat jumps and flips is so funny to see.

I got to level 3 but couldn’t beat it!

\n

Interesting how you gain speed when on the ground but not while jumping (if I’m not mistaken). This requires you to strategize and plan out when to make your jumps. Kinda cool

\n

I like the smiling tiles and art for the duck friend, haha.

\n

One thing I noticed– if you run straight into a wall and don’t jump, I think you’re stuck there forever (because your forward momentum is zero, so you jump and fall in the same place). So, I agree with another comment that having a “restart level” button would be good

This has potential. I wound up stuck just by running into a wall. Would be nice to be able to restart the level.

\n

Also, not sure if this would break the design entirely, but I really wanted some variety in the jumping. Tap quick for a little hop, hold it in to go far, and so on.

A fun, bouncy cat game! The graphics have that classic Win95 aesthetic. Nice work! 😊🎮

I enjoyed playing your game

\n

Nice and simple to understand and play

\n

Graphics were fun, although the play window was pretty small in the browser

\n

Level 2 was quite tricky to time the jumps inbetween the fire

\n

I did get stuck to an edge of a platform once, but a jump solved that

Thanks for your submission! First, I can’t know how much effort you’ve put on the game, so don’t mind me if I get cliché or repeat ideas you simply didn’t get the time (or kb) to finish. Second, great work on finishing and shipping this complete game!

\n

Great work on the aesthetics. This game came out of Windows 98 and I was sure it would pop-up at any time that this shareware version of Boing kat was limited.

\n

I liked that this is the discrete version of the Dragon, fly! You need to time your jumps correctly in similar fashion. I think only that there was something about the light gravity, and the hitboxes sizes, that made me surprised of what was the outcome of my jumps. With 20 or 30 trials in, I was still not clear my jumps would land or not.

\n

In one of my trials of the 3 level I got soft locked on those double steps – I couldn’t jump out of it and also I couldn’t restart the level. That made me restart the whole game to get back. I thought this was going to block me from finishing the game but in the next run I didn’t get blocked, so I’m assuming it is not that often.

Good job on integrating a tile based platformer, animation, graphics and gamepad support in the size limit!

\n

I liked the fun concept of the game and the graphics are very retro and charming, I especially like the way the cat spins when you jump. The game can be pretty hard though and ultimately I got stuck on a platform on the 3rd level where I could only jump in place and there was no way to restart, so I couldn’t progress anymore. The collision detection can be glitchy as well, you can jump into a platform sideways which gets you stuck there.

Congrats on finishing the jam! I think this kind of game needs to give the player a bit more control over the jumps. It’s really hard to tell how long my jumps will be and I have no way to cut a jump short.

\n

I would like to see higher jumps while pressing the jump button and cutting jumps short by releasing the jump button. Also, increased player speed while on the ground to let the player to some extent control how fast you move horizontally.

It Feels more like a side scroller than a platformer ^^. Not easy to get into — the jumps feel a bit disproportionate.\nAfter some attemps I managed to end level 3 :). Sometime a corner make us stop then move again at low speed.
