A first-person text adventure, for VR and desktop.

Played in VR - I think this format has lots of potential, representing the immersive environment with words. Gaze-based selection was a bit rough, and I didn’t know if there was more to explore.

Nice use of 3D, text, audio and VR. Good ambiance.

I played on desktop without VR. This was a really interesting experience and overall gave me very strong “Kentucky Route Zero” vibes. There’s the obvious 13KB limit but I would love to see a version of this with the real sounds of the things you discover.

Played in VR. A really interesting idea and I enjoyed progressively learning more about the things around me and unlocking more options.

Interesting presentation of a text based game. I finished it. Somewhat has similarities with my earlier games and my recent game Mor Chess 2. So I recommend you check it out.

I love this take on a text-based adventure. The controls were very intuitive and reliable and I got going straight away. As a WebAssembly nerd, I am really impressed what you managed to pull off in 13k here.

\n

I think if you go this minimalist on the visual side, music would have made a big difference. And I’d love to have some sort of spatial indicator of where I am. Like, how do I go back from the desk to where I started? A path on the ground or something could work really well.

\n

I may also be a bit dumb, but I am not sure I understand the relation to the theme.

The game ran on my quest but I had difficulty selecting items. The gaze based selection was fiddly. More importantly I couldn’t figure out what to do. Once a word is selected what is supposed to happen? I think more instructions would help.

The less good:\nThe VR gaze selection was a bit awkward and I would have liked to be able to play seated (which didn’t work because you could not turn around). I ‘got stuck’ quite quickly, probably missed an option somewhere.

\n

The better:\nInteresting visuals, I though the floating words were quite a nice way of shaping the invisible space.

\n

The great:\nI thought the memories were really effective in transferring me into the mind of the cat. Smart use of light and dark made these invisible memories surprisingly visual. Very smart!

I played on Desktop not VR

\n

It was a little confusing with all the ???? and then words appearing when I looked at them, that didn’t seem to progress the game much

\n

I will try to experience on VR

The gaze control felt a bit tricky to use when selecting items and was a little confusing at the very beginning. However, I think the idea is very original, especially for a text-based experience. 👏

This could be perhaps the most experimental entry in this competition, and I genuinely respect the ambition. Your VR text adventure attempting to convey navigation through non-visual senses is bold and thought-provoking. The deliberately minimal graphics and reliance on text create a unique sensory experience, but it took me some time to understand what was happening. This feels more like interactive poetry as much as a game, exploring themes of memory, touch, and perception. The gaze mechanic isn’t so big in VR these days, it seems to play better on desktop, but the experimental nature might be exactly what you’re going for, and gaze nav is the most accessible xr input not requiring any hands.

While the game is unconventional and stands out from typical VR experiences, it would benefit from improved controls, such as making use of pointers. Additionally, incorporating a theme-specific environment rather than a simple background would enhance the immersion. Overall, the game shows potential but needs further improvement.
