You’re a detective at the Black Cat Detective Agency: don’t even think about crossing us! You get a text from a client asking you to catch some naughty dogs committing crimes! Even though you don’t have thumbs, you’ll do your best to catch these misbehaving canines!

How to Play 🐈‍⬛

\n

After getting through the main screen and into the 3D portion, click the screen and move your mouse to look around! You can also use the arrow keys or WASD, but I would recommend using the mouse! 🐭

About the Game 🕵🏻‍♂️

\n

This is the first WebGL game I’ve ever made, and it was a blast learning everything! Here are some very helpful sources during the process:

\n\n

I also added comments linking to tutorials and guides I utilized throughout the code!

\n

Easter Eggs! 🍳

\n

Make sure to take your time and look around- there are fun little things all over the game to discover!

\n

Thank you for playing!!! 📸 🥰

Funny idea, loved the dogs.\nThe controls felt very strict, I felt it would be 10 times funnier if I can control the zoom with the mouse wheel and take photos just by clicking.\nAlso it would be nice to change the setting sometimes.

\n

Anyway, great idea and nice technical skills!

Lovely short quest, but I believe the detective’s paw is facing the wrong way around.

It’s a clever idea, and the intro is really funny. There were times when I definitely took a picture of the dog in question, but it didn’t count because another dog was in frame. Since I can’t move my character, only rotate, it was hard to isolate the image. I think being able to move around would have helped here (and maybe the dogs run away if you get too close?). I also think you should adjust rotation sensitivity based on zoom, as it was really hard to control and pretty jittery when moving while zoomed in.

\n

I still had fun, and its super cute and a fun and funny game, I just felt a couple small things were limiting it a bit. Would love to play again if you do a directors cut with some small tweaks like this!

Haha, you made me laugh when the cat typed its first answer :-)

\n

Nice game and concept! Maybe add some different controls for the camera, like zooming in with the mousewheel, taking pictures with mouse-click, etc. I think that would add to the immersion.

\n

However: I had fun catching those funny dogs with their ridiculous behaviours.\nGood job!

Hey, very nice. I like the minecrafty graphics. It would have been great to be able to move around inside the world instead of just pan.

loved it!! however the zoom in didn’t work for me but i think the tutorial window staying on the top left corner was a great idea!

Wow, looks good, the 3D was great

\n

Looking around for clues in 3D worked well, but there was a slight delay when holding a key before the view panned around - like you say in the info, using the mouse is much better

\n

I saw a pug behind a bush chasing it’s tail, but when I went to take a picture I could no longer see it, so wasn’t sure how to progress in the game

\n

But I love the idea

Thank you for such an original game and the adorable paw controls!\nI had a blast playing through it. I feel like adding some cute, chill, or smoothing music would make it incredibly easy to get completely lost in this world for hours. Great job 🐈‍⬛

So cute, and the theming is just spot on. Stalking dogs to take pictures of them feels like such a Cat thing to do!

\n

I don’t think there was much point to having a distinct “camera mode”. Why not just always be in that mode? And using the mouse wheel to zoom and click to snap a pic would also make more sense. But those are pretty fine points.

\n

All in all, this is one of the best games here. Well done!

This was a clever idea, I loved the humour (especially in the intro) and I enjoyed playing it. I liked the different types of “crimes” too.

\n

There was a small problem I ran into several times where I had zoomed in fully to be able to get a picture of the dog without other dogs in the frame and after pressing ‘C’ I heard the audio that goes with successively taking the right picture and getting the chat messages but all I could see was the grey and white jagged background. Escaping out of full screen to go into the windowed browser mode appeared to resolve it and I got the chat screen with the next “criminal” to catch.

\n

Was being able to grab the squeaking mouse at the start and the claws coming out one of the easter eggs?

🚀 I enjoyed the missions. both graphics and mission design are very nice!\nStory is fun to follow.\nI would have liked to see camera controls when it becomes active, and only interaction ones during move phase; to feel more in control.

Great narrative building; it would have been awesome to build this narrative into the text story at the start. I liked that you thought about your process and wrote that into your README.

\n

In terms of gameplay; the camera control explanation is good, but it’d be even better if the instructions stayed on screen in camera mode (I had to jump out several times to read the button controls again). It would be nice if you could control the camera with the mouse (scroll) when in camera mode.

\n

The long paw is a bit distracting, and a slightly jarring. I’d make this a paw print pointer, and allow the user to click and select their options.

\n

Love the story you built, the sound effects fit nicely too; add some music more a little more immersion. The camera capture can be a little glitchy too: ie. I took a photo of the dog with the hotdog and the dog was in front of the tree, but the text kept telling me it was behind a tree.

\n

Great job on your game and can’t wait to see more.

I liked the 3D environment, and the way you are telling a story mission after mission.

Very creative. Funny plot. Gread dog models. Unusual gameplay.\nCould use some graphics polish, such as better dog animations and some more props on the scene, such as houses or a fence at perimeter.
