In this you’re playing as a cat, who is running a coffee shop, coincidentally named Black Cat Caffee. The owner is probably out on a very long bathroom break, so it’s your responsibility to make the coffee and serve it to the customer(s).

\n

Controls: WASD to move, E to interact, Q to place items on the counter. You brew coffee by placing the cooking pot into the coffee machine, then filling the coffee cups with the coffee. Costumers may also ask for milk, which can be poured into cups that already contain coffee. A coffee can contain 0, 1 or 2 doses of milk.

I really like this one, but it was fairly difficult to understand the controls. Picking things up using E was obvious, but then putting them down wasn’t. It also took me a while to figure out that I had to give the coffee directly instead of putting it on the counter in the middle.

\n

Once I got into a rhythm it was actually pretty fun, would love to see a timer, different requests… something to turn it into Beertapper or Overcooked.

\n

I also love the graphics. The style works really well and everything was visually obvious.

Love the art direction and animation. I wish there was a bit of sound and that we could move with arrow keys and/or ZQSD too. Not everyone has a qwerty keyboard!

I really like the minimalist visual style and the idea. Some sound would’ve been great addition.

\n

A strange visual bug was that after serving the first coffee in the first level the pot with coffee in it was visible beside the coffee cups

Love the concept, very cute, matches the theme well and the graphics are unique in this compo and look great!

\n

The controls could be improved, it takes some time getting used to when to press what button exactly. There was no hint to press E when giving the coffee to the customers which was confusing at first. Also, I think it would be more comfortable if it was more spread out for two hands, e.g. arrows to move and X/C for the actions as it felt too cramped with one hand. And I agree with the other commenters that it should support different keyboard layouts that aren’t QWERTY.

\n

There were some small glitches, like the coffeepot kept floating next to the coffee machine after a while and I saw a customer pass through the counter but nothing that would ruin the experience. Also, I think it would be nice to be able to tell how much milk you poured into each cup somehow.

\n

Some audio cues would make this more immersive and a bit of a sense of urgency with a fail condition, e.g. the customers getting impatient and leaving if not served quickly enough.

\n

Great job overall, I had fun running the coffee shop!

Game looks fun, I like the art style

\n

Navigating around and interacting with objects worked well

\n

I went through the motions of creating a coffee but couldn’t work out how to give it to the customer

Nice art style/animation! The simple black and white looks nice! It was fun scrambling around as a struggling working cat

\n

Gameplay-wise, I was having a bit of trouble understanding what to do, though. For example, it wasn’t clear to me what was in the cup, so I wasn’t sure if I was making the customers’ orders correctly (e.g., how do I know if there are two milks in the cup?).

\n

I think some additional information in the UI somewhere would help the gameplay a lot

☕ Very nice coffee-preparation game! It took me a while to realize I had to press E on the customer to give the cup, since there was no tooltip at that moment. The graphics are super cool, very Minit-like.

This is quite a fun little thing, it did take a while to get to grips with it (a re-read of the instructions) however, aside from disappearing out of sight beyond the counter, there were no real issues with it.

Really cool concept! Good clear instructions. The controls were a little bit fiddly (perhaps could use mouse click) and it might be helpful to display how much milk you’ve put in the cups, as well as an E prompt to hand it to the customer (and maybe a transparent counter – I just kept going around it to hand-deliver the drink haha). I wasn’t sure how well it suited the theme, how and why a cat is making the coffee. But I could see this primary gameplay loop being developed in really interesting ways (syrups, different beans), so well done!

Great entry!

\n

I ended up mapping the keys to a controller of mine and had a great time playing this game! I love the game loop and how each level gets just a tad bit harder and harder as you go.

\n

I ended up finishing 7 levels before I called it quits. Is there a set number of levels or does it just keep going up and up?

\n

Also, do customers ever actually leave after a while or just keep waiting and piling up in line?

\n

The only weird thing that I encountered is that I had an extra coffee pot in front of the counter that would disappear when I would grab the actual coffee pot to pour coffee and then reappear there when I replaced the coffee pot in the maker. Occasionally it would also happen with the coffee cups and I would actually have an extra cup of coffee to serve sometimes :)

\n

Also would be nice if you could actually use the front counter to serve from or at least sit things on. If you can then I couldn’t figure out how and just had the black cat run around the counter to serve customers their coffee :)

\n

Loved playing this one!

I’m glad you enjoyed playing the game! The game loop is infinite, but you can’t actually lose the game. I planned to have the costumers get angry if you nake them wait too much, but i ran out of space before implementing that. As it turns out svgs take up a suprisingly large amount of space.

Hey Kuszabe,

\n

I really liked this submission, great work on this and thanks for submitting! I really enjoyed this game - and good work on the artwork and the clean UI.

I recorded a video review for all the games here so that you can see my initial reaction while playing, which is often quite helpful from a user experience perspective. https://www.youtube.com/live/jl6pC4OnVJA?si=hadQmN9JZB93hDUM

I like the overall style of the game and the gameplay.\nOnly the [E] to interact and [Q] to place items feels a bit strange/confusing
