I wanted to grab it all and smash it together, twist it, burn it, swirl it around and shake it out, but instead I felt powerless except when I took control of my speaker volume. Nobody could take that away from me! My speakers have a physical volume knob. Tangible and touchable, I was able to wrest some control in my life and be an autonomous being in charge of their own life, for once, as this volume can’t be changed by mere software - no, once I turned down my volume - here in the real world - no hacker, no broken device driver, no 13kb of quality coding could take that away from me - once silenced, the moment was mine to cherish, my hand hovering on the volume knob of my speakers like the hand of a diety, the entire auditory spectrum of this game in my grasp, at my control, loud or silent at my whim. Feeling empowered, I closed the game, satisfied I’d learned the lesson.
