You’ve been sent out into the wilderness to photograph the aurora borealis. Capture the best shots and improve your ratings among your colleagues. Who knows where your career may turn if your photos are top-notch!

\n

Your camera film only has capacity for 13 more photos (because yes, you’re still using that), so don’t run out before you’re called back to HQ!

\n

Click the shutter button (the circle) to take a photo. As soon as you’ve taken your 13th photo or when 8am arrives, the game is over and you will see the average scores given for your photos by category.

It would have been cool to be able to steer around, or have me decide the time of exposure, or why not even steering while exposing to create some kind of mixed images?

Hm … 13 clicks for a game. Well i always dreamed of seeing and taking pictures of the aurora boralis, but if its like this random noise photo taking experience… well… then i can make a mark on the bucketlist ;-)

\n

I was wondering what the black parts on the picutes edge should symbolize, by reading yout code on github i learned that these are the trees! Now that i know this, i can see them in the pictures too.

An interesting game concept. We had some aurora recently and it was hard to get a good photo.

\n

When I played the game the camera button wasn’t very responsive - not sure if that was intentional but it took a good few seconds before a picture appeared in the gallery.

\n

It would have been nice to have a back-of-camera view with some options to tweak like exposure, ISO, duration e.t.c.

\n

Was the ring around the centre to give the impression of being in a forest and looking directly up?

Interesting submission. Definitely breaks the mold!

\n

It wasn’t clear what was going on after i took the picture. Some sort of visual feedback, shutter sound, or something, to tell me that the picture was coming would have helped. This idea would be great for an more immersive full screen experience, if you’re interested in further developing it.

\n

It’s also not really clear what the goal is, so I think my score was bad (0.3 on the contrast).

Taking photos of things is a brilliant and clearly underutilized concept.

\n

An interesting way to do the noise, I was expecting to see a Perlin implementation or something.

\n

A very intriguing experience.

I wasn’t expecting that!

\n

Really unique concept, didn’t really feel like a game and more like an experience.\nImpressed by the quality of what you’ve built.

\n

Well done!

So, you need to photograph the retro plasma effect. Sorry, I mean the aurora borealis. You can only take 13 photos and at the end they will be rated on criteria such as contrast, sharpness and color distribution.

\n

Graphically I guess it kinda looks like an aurora. A little bit. I like how time slows down after taking a photo (as I assume it’s processing the pixel data to make the image :). There’s no audio at all, a ‘click’ sound would have been fun. And it’s a bit arbitrary as to ‘how good’ the photos really are. Even so, it’s a novel concept - even if not really on-theme at all.
