AUD13ND is an sound sequencer game. Sounds are created by selecting selecting boxes in a grid as the sequence progresses from left to right. Enemy voids will attack from both sides, and if they collide with a highlighted cell, that entire beat will be ended. Go for high score and try to survive all 13 levels to earn your freedom (to make more music).

This is interesting! There is a game here somewhere. After a couple of rounds it seemed obvious to me the better way to go was to keep the beats in the same notes and what starts as a nice melody ends up being a monotone mess caused by this strategy.

\n

Neat idea though! perhaps start the level with nothing and have the enemies lead you into a melody, instead of the other way around.

Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. I had intended to make the generated audio more melodic, but time got the best of me.

One of the most enjoyable game so far! I like the default song you made there at first I didn’t understand the game but when I got to lvl 2 it all became clear. It was very fun, was a bit frustrating destroying the default sound :))

I unlocked the sequencer! I ended up with the same strategy as Federico, just moving all of the notes to a “safe” row, and moving them all together. I don’t know how it would work, but it would be amazing if the “song” started as one thing, and then over the course of the level it ended as another song, which could be a very satisfying experience of resolving the audible tension rather than creating it. Still, a very fun and innovative entry. Very polished. The controls handled great. The UI was clear and easy to understand. Great job!

Very interesting concept! I love your beautiful musics becoming each time worst and finishing in a sound mess, it was very fun!\nThe synthetized sounds are well made and the sequencers are perfect. Congratulations!

Fun! The game gets pretty chaotic pretty quick. And I appreciate that the voids attack the rows with the most notes, to keep you on the edge of your seat. I really like music games.

Original concept. I didn’t understood in the first levels what was enemies and why some columns were desactivated. You should add more feedback or visual effects to show voids

Very interesting! Turning a basic sequencer style interface into a game is certainly unique. As the tune plays, these squiggly voids appear on the sides and will flow along a track. If they hit a cell, they’ll remove it from the tune. All you have to do is let the tune play to completion to finish the level, although of course it will change how it sounds as each part gets blown away by the voids. The first 5 levels or so don’t really require much input from you - although it is fun to change the sequence just to hear the impact it has on the tune, but the voids basically line-up with cells that are filled anyway, so there isn’t much work to do to ensure they always make contact with something. I feel like as a concept there is something very different here, that is well worth exploring in a larger non-13KB environment. With a full-on soundtrack and voids everywhere, this could be something pretty special.

Deriving music from the playing field is a cool concept! I think it works better if the music is part of the gameplay, and / or if the simulation is more chaotic, so that the tune is constantly changing.

\n

If you press play and never touch any notes, most of the levels complete successfully by themselves I think?

\n

The drums sound meaty!

\n

A small bug in the sequencer: when I change bpm while it’s running, things go out of sync.

I love the idea, very original. Gameplay wise it feels sometimes a little bit forced, but I feel there is space to make a more interesting gameplay, like limiting more which notes can be modified.

\n

Anyway, it was refreshing to play it.

Fun to click around and make different sounds and rhythms.

\n

I got through a few levels by clicking the row where the next void appeared, but on later level it wasn’t enough?

\n

Sound effects are good.

\n

I think the concept was really innovative

A very original and interesting game! A sequencer but with enemies that collide with selected cells. I could see this becoming a full game. Great work!
