In 13th Restaurant Rush, speed is key, but tradition is just as important! According to an old saying, there should never be 13 people seated at a table. This restaurant takes that very seriously, and it’s up to you to maintain the balance while typing orders as fast as possible!

\n

The challenge? Keep the line moving and don’t let more than 12 people wait for a seat, or face the consequences. Every second counts!

\n

Here are the golden rules to remember:

\n\n

How to Play

\n\n

Keep the flow moving, and never let 13 customers wait!\nIt’s a fast-paced, number-crunching challenge that tests both your typing skills and your mental math. How many orders can you serve before the line grows too long?

\n

It’s my first time participating, and I hope you’ll like it!\nDon’t hesitate to follow me on X if you like the game and want to keep in touch.

\n

This won’t be the proposal with the most technical challenge inside, but my challenge was to find enough time to finish my project with two young daughters!

\n

Thanks, everyone, for the challenge. It was nice to be part of it!

Such a cute looking game! Nice GitHub README. And great work providing the instructions on game start.

\n

Great concept for including the number 13, and makes you think on your feet. Great for typing skills too! Really fun game.

\n

Did find a couple of loopholes/bugs. Can copy and paste - so can copy “refuse order” and paste it in whenever items total 13. One of the orders if it has the same item as the previous order, it strikes out the item on the following order, meaning I had to type it out again even with the strike through. Would be also great to have a life counter score somewhere at the top; could make it something fun like three strawberries or something like that.

\n

A score counter in the top would have been awesome, and difficulty levels would also have been a nice touch. Great work on finishing your game whilst looking after 2 kids. Nice work!

\n

Would love to see some sound effects/music to add the cherry on top. Needs a pop up or similar to restart the game it ends. Loved the cute and simple artwork.

\n

Def one of my favourites!

Thank you for your feedback!\nHaha, I definitely need to implement some sort of anti-paste protection—I hadn’t thought about that during development. And yeah, I didn’t manage to include the sound in time.

\n

There’s a score counter in the top left, but I didn’t notice it on your stream, so maybe there’s a responsiveness issue. As for the difficulty, it currently increases with the number of lines/items per order and the decreasing time between orders as the game progresses.

\n

I’m really glad you enjoyed playing it!

Cute and silly, I really like this.\nTyping from sight as an input method, it’s like, it’s so obvious but one hardly ever sees this. It really works.\nThere were a few errors in the console (listOrder is not defined), and at one point I got stuck because all the items were crossed out but the customer wouldn’t go away.

Damn, I think the last refactoring caused me some troubles, thank for noticing it. I’ll try to fix it for the director’s cut version!

Love the concept! Fun way to control a game.

\n

Also great fit for theme.

\n

Having different difficulty levels could give the gameplay some depth, e.g. adding more complex orders, like “3 pairs of sausages” or a person suddenly deciding to order more

Thank you for your feedback!\nYou’re right—currently, the game starts with a random selection from a small set of lines, and the number of options gradually increases over time. I agree that introducing elements to break the rhythm could make things more interesting and add depth to the gameplay. It’s definitely something worth exploring!

A fun little typing game with a maths element.

\n

I enjoyed playing it.

\n

For me it can be tricky to keep up with the orders. As not only do you need to read them quickly, but type them quickly and without spelling mistakes, but then also make sure you’ve added them all up and it doesn’t equal 13 - wow :)

\n

There was one instance when 2 people in a row ordered water and when I typed it as the last item of the first person, the second person had it already crossed off when their list came up.

My highscore is 250 - that’s if you don’t cheat :).

\n

If you like to count and also want to improve your typing skills, then this is the place for you!

\n

I’ve often seen programs to improve typing skills, but counting while doing so is something new, quite innovative! The game perfectly reveals the theme of the competition. I like the minimalistic style, and it’s quite nice. I also love SVG graphics!

\n

Of the possible improvements in my opinion, I think it would be even more fun if there was a small animation of pushing a crowd of customers if there are several in a queue, maybe along with their parallel orders, where the player could choose which ones they can close the fastest. The movement of the seller’s eyes imitating the inspection of the order would probably deepen the immersion in the atmosphere. In my opinion, it would be even more fun :D! But of course it should be tested :).

\n

Congrats on your hard work - really nice work!

330 highscore xD\nA cool typing game, with a few maths. It could be a cool game for kids (removing or reducing the timer) to count and type :)

As the text was on the screen I could copy and paste :D

\n

Clever idea, typing games are not for me but can see you have put some work into this so well done.

I’m pretty quick on the keyboard but it turns out that things can go south quickly if you misspell parts of an order. I thought I was going to be clever and have “refuse order” in the clipboard and paste it to save time, but most of the time I failed on mistyping a word and letting the queue grow to maximum length. I could definitely see that the use of audible queues could help. A “ding” when a new order has arrived. A “booo” or other negative signal when I misspell and another sound when I typed a correct part of an order.

The game vibe is really cute. It really needed appropriately cute music to go along. Also sound effects (like a chime when a new customer arrives).

\n

I’m not a big fan of fast typing as a game control, but it’s well implemented. I think it would make more sense to just listen to key presses on the document instead of having an input field, as it was possible to copy-paste “refuse order”.

\n

The game also lacks animations to make it look a bit more alive. For example, the people arriving in the shop and leaving.

\n

Cute idea, but wish it was a bit fleshened out.

Thank you!

\n

Yeah I totally agree with you. At first my idea was to not have a input bar and directly typing on the screen like you say, but with the time that I had I thought it would be to complicated to handle all the UI and animation that I had in mind for this behavior so I choose a simpler version.

\n

Same for the audio and the animation, I wanted to do more but slight wasn’t possible, I’ll try to focus more on this aspect next year!

There was a bug on this order - can’t skip!\n“10 raspberries\n1 carrots\n1 pork\n1 plums” page

\n

I like how to combined typing tests, dinner dash, and math all in one game! The game starts on a gentle learning curve, and gets steep really fast. I also like the idea that this game has a edutainment aspect that would be fun for kids to play, and at the same time, learn

Nice artstyle! Some animations/effects would be nice. On the other hand, i would not see them, while looking at my keyboard… ;-)

\n

It would be nice if “1 carrot” would be a valid entry, not only “1 carrots”..\nAnd additionally if “5 pineapples 2 mushrooms” would also count as single input, not only each separately.

\n

Some soundeffects would also add much to the game. Positive feedback for correct orders, an “aaawww” for refused orders, a horn for wrong orders… something like that.
