13th Century Siege is a Tower Defense type game in which you must build towers along the way to prevent enemy forces from reaching your castle.

\n

To build towers you must click on one of the signs, after which a small menu will open to select the tower to build and its cost. Kill enemies to get money to build them.

Fun, but after buying every tower there is nothing to do

The towers kept missing if there is a big queue of enemies - instead of shooting some closer enemy they shoot at the farest one that is already getting out of range and missing with 100 percent rate. When I understood that I changed my strategy and had fun.

A fun little game. Sometimes I would have liked to have a speedup button, instead of having to wait until the enemies reached some point.

Nice art! I didn’t see the option to speed up the game at first, so in my first attempts, when one of the enemies escaped I was restarting the game, because I didn’t have money nor towers that could kill ’em.

\n

I felt like it could have been better balanced. The waves don’t get harder enough, so once you get enough money it gets too easy and you can just sit and wait till you get enough money to buy another tower, without even thinking about where to place it. Maybe some upgrading system could help.

Great graphics and everything works well. However, after some levels the enemies have no longer a chance when you have a lot of towers. And in the end you can no longer build anything.

\n

Leveling towsers, destroying towsers and stronger enemies over time could improve your game.

\n

However, I loved that there was a speed button! This highly improves the gameplay.

nice graphics, and gameplay. at leat up to the point, when all towers are palaced, and the player can only release the next wave.

\n

I like the time-speed-option.

\n

The game needs more stages, and more towers, and tower upgrades

This game plays really well. The only thing missing is juice, balancing and more content + sound. The graphics are well made, and it all fit together nicely.

\n

Creating the 150 towers is enough to become invincible. I stopped after wave 12, because I was just a few towers away from building all towers.

\n

It would be great with some upgrades, different enemy types and more information about the towers themselves. The large tower could have slower rate of fire, but larger area of effect, while the small tower could have high fire rate and only damage 1 enemy at a time.

\n

I appreciate the speed option, and I wish we had X4, or even X5 as well. I think the game has potential

A fun tower defense game! The art was definitely the standout area here, it has a really nice charm to it :)

This is a great game. I love the art, and it plays well. The building sprites don’t come up in the build menu like I feel they should, but I figured it out. It could use some difficulty balance. After a certain point it stopped being difficult. I just bought all the expensive towers and none made it past the third bridge until I got bored, about level 23. If you have any extra space check out zzfx for sound and music.

This is a very simple fun tower defense game that I did a few playthroughs on, and decently challenging too. Love the pixel art style. You could add more towers, and options to upgrade existing ones to make this more fully featured. There are many ways the gameplay could be expanded from here. Sounds would also help add more immersion to the gameplay. Overall it’s a great entry for js13k.

It was wave 26, we were surviving as best we could… actually after a few waves, you almost can’t lose once you build enough towers, so the game needs some extra balance.

\n

I think it would be interesting if the enemy had several ways of entry that would intersect at certain points. Also, I would like to sell the weaker towers I built in the beginning and replace them with stronger ones.

\n

Also, I did not immediately understand that it is possible to change the speed of the gameplay - it would be good to somehow draw the user’s attention to this button.

\n

In general, an interesting game - congratulations!

The good:\nConcept of the game is easy for players to understand, yet the game loop requires players to delve into strategy and thought.\nLevel design - sufficiently complex to pose a challenge for the player, yet allow players to overcome AI.\nFast-forwarding is a nice touch.

\n

Suggestions:\nAudio - Aware that it might be tough including audio in a 13kb build, but I think including background music when enemies are attacking would generate excitement for the player.\nAdjust Balancing - The first few rounds are challenging (perhaps not that challenging if you’re a tower defense pro:

I love tower defense games, and this one has really cute graphics. I couldn’t find a good strategy though. I played several times and it was a bit frustrating. The initial game balance seems a bit off, it’s really hard to earn enough money. The bullets are quite slow, same speed as the enemies, so many bullets are wasted aiming at the enemies running away from the tower. The towers are not upgradable so all you can do is fill-in the designated plots with towers. I also don’t understand what the difference between “100” and “150” towers are.

\n

When the enemies escape your towers, you have to wait so long for them to attack you; a way to skip to the end or speed things up would be nice.

\n

Great potential if you improve the game balance a bit. Also, music and sound effects to match the pixelart!

Nice little tower defence game! The game could be improved by tweaking the balance a bit. I managed to quite quickly build all towers and it felt like I could keep playing wave after wave without losing. It would also be a nice touch if I could upgrade the 100 coin towers to 150 coin towers.

I enjoyed playing the game, and with limited assets choosing the best spot for towers is tricky.

\n

Love the graphics and game play mechanic.

\n

There’s a lot of waiting around. Once you have placed enough towers that you run out of money, you’ve got to wait ages for the invaders to navigate the path until they are either wiped out or complete their quest. It would be nice to have a fast forward button.
