13s Tactics, is a tactical/chess/puzzle game where you need to perform all your actions in 13 seconds before your enemies.

\n

You will fear the number 13! Not just because you will run out of time but you will loose your characters after your turn!

\n

And of course this game contains 13 levels!

Great speed-chess-ish gameplay and pretty sprites. The different movement patterns of units and the layout of the levels are simple but effective ways to have a lot of variation. Very clever and fun!

Graphics and gameplay are very clever and well executed! The 13 second time-limit in the gameplay feels a bit arbitrary / makes it a challenge to click in the right spots quickly enough, but great premise.

The game looks good and I like the gameplay mechanics. But I don’t really like to be hurried like this in a strategy game. I sometimes would lose just because the click didn’t register. I think limiting the number of moves would work better than a time limit. The puzzles were quite good and thought provoking.

The concept is nice and the graphics and sound are good

Good use of the theme as a game mechanic. The audio goes well with the pixelart style. The puzzles difficulty is well balanced. The controls are a bit difficult in a time crunch, particularly to chain quick motion. I wish I could use arrow keys instead of clicks.

This is really polished overall, smooth controls and nice graphics. I got to lvl 8, and then the turn-time vs difficulty balance got to be a bit much for me

Great entry, it took me a while to understand that it wasnt turn based by time based.

The concept is very innovative! The time limit really creates a tense feeling of fear. The game design is spot on, gradually increasing in difficulty, and several levels have those ‘Ah ha’ moments that make solving them extremely satisfying. This is my favorite entry in the competition so far!!\nJust one thing that there’s a bug I encountered on level 13 where the tiles disappeared for some reason, and I saw a error in the console. But aside from that, this game is truly outstanding! Good job!

Very unusual gameplay. Not sure if time limit and map scrolling were necessary.

Game completed! Level 13 was a perfectly balanced challenge, great job! A clever and unique set of game mechanics. I enjoyed the pixel art, the music, and sound effects too. It’s tricky to mix tactics games with real world timer. It would be interesting to try a version of the game that changes “13 seconds” to “13 moves” to take away the time pressure. But this is great, really impressive!

Reached level 10!

\n

Among the possible improvements, I would like to highlight the possibility of prematurely ending the move, so as not to wait for the entire timer, or its acceleration.

\n

Nice game, congratulations!

Awesome job.

The thirteen seconds really makes you think fast.

Loved the art style. The chess movement played well, and the addition of the shield carrier made for some smart puzzles that dealt with positioning and facing. Being able to fully wall off units to reserve for later turns to provoke enemies made for some interesting puzzles.

\n

Kinda difficult to play on a trackpad. Level 10 especially was very difficult to complete within the 13s time limit and was making my hand tired. Most of the puzzles involve setting up everything perfectly on the first turn within the 13s otherwise you’d lose, which meant that the enemy tactics didn’t really matter and waiting their 13s turn felt long (especially when they would do nothing).

\n

Gave up at level 11 as I couldn’t figure out how to get the enemy to move onto white spaces so my bishop could take them.

Not personally a huge fan of war games but this was an interesting puzzle nonetheless! Well executed with solid graphics and nice background music and sound effects.

Simple, gorgeous, interesting and provides a bit of challenge.

\n

I wish there were more levels!

\n

I enjoy the thinking time and then the stress of scrambling all my units to the right places.

\n

Great concept!

Ohh this is pretty smart! It’s kind of click chess meets Advanced Wars. Guide your soldier/s around the grid, making sure they’re in a good position to defeat the baddies (i.e. hit those carrying shields from behind) and then whack them. But try and do it within 13 seconds, before it swaps to the AIs turn. The movement patterns change between the levels, the soldier types change and you start to be able to control more than one of them, or have to take down multiple opponents. Graphically it’s lovely, the music is simple but haunting and you really have to think about this the further you get. Great use of the theme too.

A fun turn based game.

\n

The music works well.

\n

I liked the graphics and isometric levels.

\n

The first time I played it I didn’t realise you could click on the far green points to move all that distance so each press I was only moving one square at a time and kept failing.

\n

The diagonal moves were tricky, I couldn’t get in a position where I could attack.

\n

Overall a good game for which I need more practice.

Great action puzzle game, the upper levels really require you to take time and prepare your moves. 13s may not be enough to perform all moves so you may have to split in two turns, sacrifice pieces for the victory.

\n

Very well thought out and executed, with the pause at the beginning, the ability to restart a level, clear 3D iso gfx, and audio to match. A masterpiece.
