13th century, golden age of cathedrals... Will you be able to build a cathedral in less than 100 years? Dig up rocks... cut stones... and build... to see your cathedral growing progressively.

interesting game graphics and animations but the flow of clicking itself is not very attracting, cool game keep it up.

Hello! Thanks for your submission to js13k! I'm sure you've worked hard on your game, but I'm not aware of how much time you spent on it, so excuse me if things I mention were in your mind, but got left out in the rush of the month or just because you hit the 13kb limit :)

  • My first impression and understanding (before playing the game):
    • The screenshot is very interesting taking together with the name. It implies it will be a cool one.
    • The description sells it as being really open ended
  • Great work on:
    • Having a complete working game! Also with some additional polishing!
    • Core loop! I got actively engaged in making my cathedral under 100 years!
    • Pacing! The game has a clear start, mid game and end game strategies. I really liked the "abandon all the activities and focus on getting the last stones out" ending. It took me three runs to shape that out correctly.
  • I liked that you:
    • Had the (3d?) model of the cathedral actually building through the game, it was a great way to show progress!
    • Had this small twist with the expiring auto clicker, it went from mindless clicking to actual strategy! On the first and second run I was just clicking through all the available updates and auto clickers until it became too expensive for me to move on, eventually failing. Only when I realised that I needed to time correctly what would be on auto clicker and what I'd need to sweat my clicking to keep going. Really good job in adding this layer of learning here!
  • You could improve:
    • I get it might be intentional, but I was not sure the floating bonuses during the game after levelling up were positive net for me to take. I'm already busy focused on keeping everything working on the left, I hardly have attention left to pick a small floating button flying away randomly. Maybe it could just be automatically added? It could give the "uff, a small help after levelling up" moment.

Nice, but I only win after running the lines below on the browser console:

game.variables.year = 1000
game.variables.oc = 99999

Alot of great aspects to this game! The color palette, visuals and music greatly complimented each other. I also enjoyed the fact that a tutorial on how to play was built into the game play. This really minimised the need for reading any big chunk of text before getting started. Very impressed with how the buildStones stacked over each other to create the final Cathedral. Nice work!

I liked it - congratulations!

The only thing that was confusing was that when the game ended, regardless of whether you won or lost, you could not see your construction result under a pop-up window, it would be good to process it somehow to allow you to enjoy your project :).

hands down, this was so well made and the detail to stones piling up forming a building/structure was amazing! i love how you can autoclick the features and upgrade the increments. the music was calming as well. but, the timer would have been better if it was counting down instead of up, by then the player would know how much time is left. great game!

My two kids really loved this. I like the graphics and the soundtrack, but I don't like the clicker games

A simple game, but I really like it!

Loved the build animations and design! A bit too much clicking but built most of the cathedral.

A classic very nice fited in the theme. I loved the representation of the cathedral.

Harder than I expected, but it was a good challenge. Really loved the incremental block-building effect on the Cathedral.

Well done:

  • I loved that the cathedral actually gets built as you play. Amazing job with the visuals
  • Music track was well done

Feedback:

  • Bouncing bonuses were hard to click on sometimes
  • I was surprised that the auto-clicker was not permanent and that I had to continue to reenable it. This goes against most styles of auto-clicking upgrades so it's an interesting twist to the idea but also unconventional one that makes it a bit jarring
  • I would have liked a different visual for the auto-clicker button between "unable to afford" vs "cannot buy because auto-clicker is already on." Many times the auto clicker would stop working but then the button looked like it did when it was turned on. The first few times it happened I thought something broke and didn't realize that I just couldn't afford it. It also hurts scanning the buttons to see when the auto clicker runs out.

Interesting clicker variation, I tried several times but didn't finish this cathedral. Graphics is minimalistic, but really interesting, especially cathedral Maybe it's more logical to build it with horizontal and not vertical layers)

A great clicker game, I really love the graphics and how the cathedral gets bigger and bigger over time. It is just such a cool idea!

Doesn't seem too different from the average cookie clicker, yet I got addicted to seeing the bricks flying into the cathedral and kept trying to finish it in 100 years. Still haven't managed to do it! This thing keeps going forever! The voxel cathedral looks really nice, seems like it would have taken a lot of time to design it.

I enjoyed it, it had replayability because you didn't automatically beat it the first time.

Finally, won! I really need to know how you made this nice cathedral building animation. Amazing animation work!

I guess this game falls into the cookie clicker genre. The game is well made: I liked the graphics and animation, audio is nice. Mobile version requires a bit more polish work: would be nice to get rid of scroll bars and to increase "upgrade" button size.

An interesting clicky game. The music is good, but as far as I could tell there were no other sound effects? I attempted it 3 times but didn't quite manage to build the cathedral within the 100 years. The floaty bonus buttons that moved around were a little tricky to click - I managed it, but I think slower or more wiggly movement would have been less awkward feeling.

To me, incremental games / clickers are these chill experiences where you do things at your own pace, so playing the decisively un-chill clicker sure was interesting for a change.

Nice clicker game, definitely one that got me glued until I finished.

I felt like the auto-clicking should've been permanent, and you'd just upgrade it though.

REALLY well made clicker-style game. The graphics and interactions were spot-on and the music had me vibing. Only critique is that the bouncing-around bonuses were unpleasant to click / not-always-responsive.
