HTML5 and JavaScript Game Development Competition in just 13 kB

Geoquiz 2

An enhanced version of my 2015 entry Geoquiz.
2 game modes, 14 categories, 1120 questions!
Code by xem, music by Nghia.

You can read the making-of here: https://xem.github.io/articles/#js13k18

It's recommended to put your browser in fullscreen to play more comfortably.

If the title screen looks a bit broken on mobile, reloading the page should fix it.

Note: to enable flags questions, the game downloads a set of emoji flags when it's played on Windows and Linux. This step can be skipped, according to js13kgames' rules.

Feedback from the judges

Diego González: The questions have such a nice variety! I love how it calculates how far away your guess was! I love the colours and flow and layout! I didn't like the music or intro menu quite as much. Both seemed to be missing something; hover states? polyphony? I wish there were no menus before you get to the fun. Once it got going I was totally impressed, from a purely gameplay perspective, beyond the 13kb technical marvel of compression, just as a game comparable to any other game of any size! It was so polished and I enjoyed myself all the way to the end. Well done. =)

Mike Cook: Not sure how it relates to the theme, but what a charming game! I like it a lot. The scoring metric is very good and it feels like a fun game to play with friends.

Anonymous: Very much enjoyed this, quite fun!
